with extremely good deals out there on 18 and 17 sidewinders I am getting more frustrated the more I research. Used to be a Yamaha guy in the 90's then switched to doo in 03 when the rev came out. Then next was a 2011 renegade and a 2012 rush. Still have the rev and renegade. Love the rev for a lot of my type of riding, ditch banging mostly with a little groomed trail. The renegade floats much better of course but I hate it in tight turn riding. I would call the rev more like a go cart, and a lot of fun.
Came within a hair of buying new viper in 14 I believe, but dealer could not tell me the weight.
Fast forward to now and I thought choice would be easy with the shortest track available.
The more I read and talk to dealers, the length of track keeps getting longer! My closest dealer has 18 xtx se 141 and says with tip up rails I would be fine. I know this sled will be heavier, I can deal with that.
I know I can't have the go cart feel with this type of sled but getting more confused! Of course my selection is somewhat limited, especially if I go 2017. Sorry for long post but I would like to decide by tomorrow. Thanks for any suggestions

None of the Viper or Sidewinder models have tipped rails. Only Nytro and Apex XTX models

There is a reason the LE are more expensive.
Great shocks!!
141 has lower gearing and 1.75” track I think.
Now your brain will hurt even more.

If you back off the springs on the ski shocks all the way your rails will "tip up"

137 SE is WAY better then most think. AND yes I rode a SE and a LE in the same day. They are not as far off as some want you to believe. And maybe JUST maybe set up correctly the LTX-SE is the best bang for your buck on a left over.. My two cents.

Yes I am sure that much of it is in the set up. I swapped sleds with an SE for a short ride, he still had the Tuners, handlebars were set up wrong and his suspension had to be set up wrong.
I could not wait to swap back. His thoughts were the same. He was amazed how smooth mine was and what the curves did for the handling and straight ahead ease.
