Looking for some feedback on this one. First off I am new to the forum and brought here because of my new to me 08 Nytro with very poor hand warmers.
Possible sollution:
Using a solid state potentiometer shouldn’t we be able to use the voltage supplied to the existing warmers as the control voltage and use a direct line from an auxiliary power soured through the load side and then to any type of bar heater that we wanted. This would eliminate the issues that I have been reading about the computer as the draw to operate a solid state potentiometer would be very small.

I don't have the knowledge to answer your question......not trying to hack your thread either ................but...........i installed and am using the warm hands controller box that is mentioned in the General forum. The kit works really well, from frozen digits to warm/hot hands. I could'nt be happier, put the guantlets back in the bottom of the sled bag again.
look for the Rockmeister thread.
Works on all Yamaha 4 strokes.

This would be money well spent for warm digits
How quick can I get one of these units. (Toronto, Canada)

Does this kit allow us to still use the stock heater controls (or lack of I should say) , or is there a seperate switch that controls the heat output ?

Yes, You still control the warmers with your existing controls.
It basically adds a FULL HEAT setting that really DOES HEAT!

Read the thread, it gives you ALOT of info on the Warm Hands Controller, and how to get one.
The thread can be accessed by clicking on my WWW below.
Hope this helps!

I saw rockmeisters in action this weekend, and now have one ordered for my wifes xtx.... this kit flat out WORKS!!!!

Welcome!
I worked on something very close to that, problem was, it gave you error codes and then the ECU would shut-down, and you lose ALL heat, no matter how miniscule it is from the factory!
A "dummy load" will eliminate the errors, but wastes power you can't afford to waste.
Adding an extra set of warmers was also considered, but they require even more money, time, and skill on your part.
Settled on a solution that allows you to use the EXSITING WARMERS AND EXISTING CONTROLS, you don't have to do ANYTHING but wire it in for Warm Hands.
Hope this helps!

PS (Need to fill in your location)

Thanks Rockmeister. I did update my location. I mentioned this sollution to my local dealer and of course they said that it should not be done. Have you had any problems with further codes or loss of electrical power

No problems whatsoever with codes.
There is always a chance that if the electrical system tolerances ALL fall to the extreme negative that there could be an issue, but I havent seen it, and would say the odds of seeing it are very low.
The battery voltage dropping too low is the biggest possible issue.
Low battery voltage can cause all kinds of problems with the fuel injection and the ignition.
ALL the tolerances would have to fall to the negative and you would have to run the sled at idle for a LONG time to run the battery down.
The great thing is, the sled will shut itself down before you could run the battery down.
(The sled will only run at idle so long before it shuts itself down.)
Hope this helps!
