Pros and cons to turbo viper vs sidewinder

Well I’m selling my assault to get back on a Yamaha and trying to decide if I want a viper with turbo or spend a bit more on a sidewinder?

I owned both and hands down go with a 998..imo
Turbo viper is nice but the sidewinder is smoother and faster!!

If the turbo Viper has the same driveshaft setup as the Winder it don't matter so go with the Winder. If the Viper is a different driveshaft set up get the Viper.

The engine management on the Winder is what made my decision, its FAR superior to the viper for engine safeguards, and tuning capability.

If you go for a turbo viper you may have problems with getting replacement parts. Spend the money on the sidewinder, you'll be happier in the long run.

Nice components for sure but it’s only 190 hp. Is it enough for you whereas a stock Winder has more ponies!

That’s awful pricey for a 2014 I would say no way.

The Sidewinder or Tcat are light years away from the piggy back PCV 5 controller used on that 2014 machine. The 998 has a knock sensor for reliable operation with questionable fuel.

Also there’s no timing control on the viper, only added fuel and I have had to do some tuning on mine.

The turbo is liquid cooled on the 998, that turbo viper is not liquid cooled but can be with some work.....

I have a turbo Viper with the 270~400 kit and no knock sensor. I’ve had a lot of issues that I’m not gonna get into.

Trust me listen to these guys, go with the Winder and you’ll be a lot happier!

Oh almost forgot to mention the Viper only has a 13 wide chain, the Winder has a 15 wide chain...... trust me you want the wider chain!!
