So here’s the final drawing of my push button start. If a guy uses a button with contact ratings large enough you could skip the relay and just install the timer relay. I wanted to use the skidoo brake and rer cluster. The timer relay is from amazon ....it works well. http://timers.shop/

I tied into the hood harness by the grey plug.

I've had a handlebar mounted push button start switch on my apex for close to a decade which works very well. I don't understand why you would use a timed relay. Wouldn't this energize the starter for a fixed length of time no matter what is required and even stall and overheat the starter if the battery runs down before the engine starts and time is up?

Well in the drawing the timer is only there to power the push button switch for timed duration. After that, pushing the switch will not kick the starter over accidentally while riding. Power cycle resets the timer.

How does the Doo Master Cylinder feel? Not talking the lever I am talking one finger or two and is lock up at top or near bottom of pull?

Would it be possible to rewire this so that one can use the revers button as starter button and put another button for reverse somewhere else?

I bought a 50 amp tractor starter button, and jumpered the starter wires from the ignition switch. when the key is on, the sled will start with the button, same as the key switch. with the key off, the starter will still spin if you push the button, so you only have to remember to leave the key on.

Be sure to buy a DC push button, not AC. the original button on that video was replaced that same week once I read up on AC vs DC switches. An AC switch will fail in a short time on DC power.

I generally left the key on and used the kill switch to power up and down. this does not drain the battery, off is off, same as the key. Used this for three seasons and 10,878 miles with no issues.
