Hey I was curious was thinking today about the Vector and Nytro they have the same motor right? 120 hp 3 cyl? but the vector has a bigger gas tank?
Now totally different question, a rear heat exchanger? what does it do? and where is the stock heat exchanger? why is it beneficial to get a rear one?

Same displacement, different HP, Vector has 125-130, Nytro has 135-140.
Some models have an extra heat exchanger to aid in cooling (see picture)... Your Apex has a small radiator, running board heat exchanger, and the heat exchanger in front of the drive shaft

How is it same displacement but different hp? and why didn't they just make vector same hp? So aid in engine cooling I suppose would mean more power with the rear heat exchanger?

Different cams and more fuel = more HP
Not sure exactly why they dont use the same HP motor, my guess is to be more trail friendly...
The only reason for the extra heat exchanger is to keep the motor from over heating, nothing to do with HP

Thank you for the answers very informative. I was just curious do apex have over heating problems? I am using this site to help anticipate any problems I may encounter. I have 13500 km's on sled so far and this year I've had bad donuts and cracked y pipes, frozen fuel relay and monoshock welds break... So I am trying to prepare / prevent further problems since I will be keeping the sled for a few more years.

Yes, your '06 Apex will overheat in low snow / hardpack conditions. It may have been delivered with 100% glycol in the cooling system which should be diluted for better heat dissipation. The optional rear heat exchanger will help as will adding Water Wetter to your cooling system. Adding ice scratchers will help throw snow & ice onto your running board heat exchangers in low snow / hardpack conditions.

I do get the temperature light on in low snow conditions but I mean it has to be really bad. I've been ridding in hard pack snow but not enough of an issues to justify the cost of adding ice scratchers or rear heat exchanger to my sled. I'd sell my sled and buy new before I put more money into it.

Ice sratchers are cheap and over heating can happen on new or old iron, it just doesn't matter, it all depends on the conditions you ride in.
