Are talking about your buddy mounting his to the running boards and cracking or to the skid rails and cracking? I wasn't quite sure.

No no.......he mounted them running board and the running boards cracked as they are very thin aluminum. Some people refer to the running board as side rail or foot rail. Sorry to confuse.

- Nope. The carbide tipped ones are sold by Yamaha.
- I had them on my other Apex, but I like these better.
- All you do is cut a muffler U clamp in half and use it as the scratcher.
- Also, the wire rope is covered with a rubber sheath on these ones.

Here is link that is for Super Single Ice Scratcher by Side Kick. I didn't know if you knew that they made the carbide one or not.

- Yes, I remember now...I forgot about the single.
- The double was on sale at a sled show recently, so I bought them.

VectorLTX2012- I have the double set on both sleds and have no issues with either set coming loose. I leave mine down all the time. Since I have 1.75 track lugs running trails.
Monte 1214- Yours looks like a good place to install, and a easier place to lock them up if you wanted.

Ya, I have the same problem. My RSI scratchers from flea-bay just showed up & there is no room for them in front of the outer front idler wheels & it can't be mounted on that idler wheel bracket either because my pro-active skid uses that bracket for the spring to rest on!sherlock29 said:Hey guys... I've searched... but no luck. I'm looking for some pics of rail mounted ices scratchers. I picked up a set on the weekend, and can't seem to find a suitable place to mount them. I'd like to mount as far forward as possible on the rails, but want to put in the right spot.... so guys that have them any way to post up some pics, or idea's??
thanks in advance
sherlock.!!
If I put the things behind that wheel it will be so far back that the only sled that will benefit from the flying snow will be the guy riding behind me!!! Have to bolt the damn things to my boots I guess!!! lol

SO i sat in the garage... and beat myslef over a good mounting place....
I have 2 options without buying or modding so far. I have simmons gen1's on the 40th and with the stock ski bolt i can mount the scratchers on the skis... 1 issue... they will mount, but the rear bolt for the carbide does not let them retract to hook onto back of ski.
sencond place... is behind the 2nd idler wheel... but this location will be tight. on the LTX's the rails have innner and outer "stiffeners" to help the flex in the longer rails... and they neck down so drilling a hole for the bolt will not have enough meat left for good support...
I may have to change the style of scratcher.... anyone that has a Apex LTX with the rail style of scratcher could you post where you mounted!!!!
thanks for all the other info... looks like this is a sticky now so hopefully we can all have good cooling and slide wear this year!!!!
cheers..
