I concur with @jonlafon1. He's got that thing dialed in. I think he described it best, as "violent. " Bar none the best sled I've ever ridden (over 40 years.) Don't get me wrong, I love my sled and feel my clutching for stock tune is very close. But amazing what a difference tune with correct clutching feels like. We rode some damn nice trails with some long pulls and on and off throttle riding. Probably the hardest (most pulls and on and off) I've driven mine since I got it. Neither sled missed a beat. Some don't like the stock secondary spring, but don't sleep on it. For others, it may be a good fit.

I really had no idea the difference as I never rode a stocker. But after riding the stocker( which was by no means bad). I just wil say I by no means feel I have the best set up or clutching. But it's sick pull with the MILD eco trail from TD. Can't say enough about this tune if your looking for some extra but don't want to go to crazy. 4700 miles with this tune. TD ROCKS. Thanks Ben for all you do!

Been running the Power Trail Stock Muffler tune for the last 4 days. 800 miles of smiles. Really woke the sled up. I was hoping he would release the Max 16 SM while I was here but doesn't look like it will happen. With the weather turning and tomorrow being the last day of my trip, this will probably be it for me for the season. Really happy with the purchase though. Should have done it sooner. The sled finally runs the way I think it should have come from the factory. I can't imagine what it will be like if I get a muffler and run Max 17 or Max 20.I really had no idea the difference as I never rode a stocker. Can you elaborate on your TP setup for your stock power sled? I'm similar, about to install my 911 cover/glide washers and secondary spring but that's all I've got for now.I concur with @jonlafon1. Corrected original post on primary spring. So today was going to be clutch temp day. Unfortunately my gun would not work properly. But I used the old fashioned method which I prefer. Holding your hands on as long as you would like is my method to a good clutch job. So did some 40-60 mph runs occasional hammers. Stopped and could hold my hands on anywhere as far as clutches. My primary was warmer then secondary. Next run was 2 miles on trail going north into White Pine. The SLOWEST I WENT was 85 mph in 2 miles. Pulled it hard three times. Well over 100. Stopped and clutches were barely warm. Could hold hands anywhere I wantedas long as I wanted. The belt was the warmest. This is pretty much the same set up I have run for 4600 miles now. STM straight 38 with stock secondary spring wrapped at 6/1. Yellow green yellow Yamaha primary spring heavy hitters 3.3 grams heel .9 grams middle 4.6 grams tip. 8dn belt. SE MODEL with coupler blocks removed. It pulls the skis to 80 mph. At 55 -60 you can pull the skies. Top end is mid to upper 120's. This sled is also flashed with TD eco tune with turbo force muffler. 200 plus studs from zero miles. Had the opportunity to ride with Snowaddict from this site. For two days. One of the days I punched it 25 times or so and got ip into 120's> no blown belts. This set up is crazy pull and very good on gas and belts. I will let him maybe say what he thought of it when had rode it. This set up plain WORKS and Pulls hard AND engine breaks/backshifts.

I'm running the full TP clutch kit in primary (as set up by Lonn). The only adjustment I made was removing one of the thin washers from the tip (originally it came with 2.) I'm back to using stock secondary spring wrapped at 3-3. I am at 9k on initial grab of the throttle and 8700-8750 on prolonged pull. 114 mph on dream meter. I may go to 6-1 if I adjust anything else. Tried TP orange secondary spring and clutches were a little too hot for my liking. It also felt like it was "stuck " and topped at 100. My secondary is machined for coil bind (thanks to @NOS-PRO) btw.

Ok, so you also had the TP Orange rear spring hold your top mph at 100ish. I think that was my top end & heat problem when i had whole TP kit in.

Steve, was that at the 40 degree wrap? Sure does sound familiar to what I experienced. I was at the recommended 2-3.

I had it at 60, 50, 40 then 30. All 100ish on trail. Remember "trail" means trees & other people so hard to keep it pinned for long. I'm sure it was more on perfect lake.
I had HH weights set-up as sent with helix at 60 with same problem. It's why i started to play around.
Now as NOS pointed out that when i went to 50 degrees or lower, i had pulled tons of weight out, but at that point i was swinging for answers.
I have yet to try different rear spring with TP kit. It pulled hard, just topped out at 100.
With my stock sled with offset at minimum(for now) at 60.5 & my center at 262; I could not get a combo with TP Orange spring over 100mph.
Do i have a bad spring? Maybe
Is my set-up, that i can't adjust until summer, not work with this Orange spring? Maybe
First full week of March i will have more answers that will pull this whole thread together.
Unfortunately that may be my last ride...

Don't forget you are machined clutches bud.....just so when people see the post that they think the stock secondary spring will get you mid 120's. The stock secondary spring in the clutch without machining will not get you 120's unless some gearing is changed.

Does machining the clutches help in belt efficiency or just top end?
When clutches are machined, do you have to change clutch settings like weights & springs?

No to any changes...
Machining the clutch was originally done to eliminate the coil bind on the secondary, that is how the new TP orange spring was invented to eliminate coil bind without machining. Machining helps the clutch move thru it's entire motion so it helps make it work.....especially top end. So the ones using the stock SW spring or white or pink secondary spring are the ones who will benefit from machining the secondary on the Apex's, Nytro's, RX1's, Viper's and SW's
****remember, machining the secondary clutch voids warranty on the clutch****

Good call. Forgot that. Pocket is opened up for no coil bind with stock secondary spring. Two minor adjustments from last years set up has really made this thing crazy 0-100. They were stock secondary spring @6/1 which I did run some last year. And I took .4 grams off tip. It runs 8800-8900 and holds. Last year it dropped off SLIGHTLY on top.Don't forget you are machined clutches bud.....just so when people see the post that they think the stock secondary spring will get you mid 120's.
