I was really surprised how high it was. Also surprised they went back to 3 holes in tunnel for front skid mount. That’s asking for trouble. Is everyone’s skid mounted like this one?Yup that’s how mine sits! Be nice to lower it. Might even help snow get on the exchangers

Mine is in those same hole and it doesn't sit that high, you can pick it up so it looks like that but as soon as you let go it drops a good 3 inches and then when you push it down and it almost touches the transfer blocks and stayes there. We need someone to get a pic of the Artic Cat like this one so we can compare the differences. I was told by a pretty good source that the Cats are in different holes than the Yamaha.

Here is a picture I found of a 2021 9000 Thundercat for sale at a dealer. The upper idler wheel hole being used is the upper one. The one in the front of the skid is the same hole as the Yamaha's.

Thanks Putz21 you can definitely see the difference, I think this is the route I'm going Cat designed and build these sleds I would think they know where this skid is supposed to mount in the tunnel. If anyone knows why they are different please let use know. Maybe Jarrett could shed some light on the subject.
Yes that would change the whole geometry of skid. Try it for sure. And would believe that Yamaha has put more hrs testing the turbo chassis than Arctic cat has . You do have to remember Arctic cat was going broke for the last 2-3 years ... so how much money would they spend on testing???

I would think the rear needs to be dropped down, in the upper hole. I remember guys putting drop brackets (they actually raise the sled) on sx vipers and it just ruined the trail manners. Looked cool tho.
What ya think Yamaha has into those rear Boggie wheels? Maybe a solid $2.00? Not even rubber on them, just hollow plastic and a tiny little $1.00 bearing! Not even two inner wheels! Nice work Yamaha

MOTOTOWN you have no idea what kind of testing Yamaha actually does. Yamaha did a lot of testing on the Winder before it was introduced and not so much anymore all these little tweaks are developed by Cat and Yamaha does very little testing and usually with old parts.
I will be taking pics tonight of some cats. If Yamaha tested and came to conclusion suspension should be jacked that high they are nuts.

Yamaha came out with this notifying what the proper rear suspension mounting position should be based on the Non-ARCS and ARCS front-end. Would love to hear from Jaret what Yamaha found in their testing and why different from Arctic Cat's mounting position.

Ahhhhh nice find! Yes that’s makes sense, since the front end is now raised up on the newer models, this does the same for the rear. Raising the rear up so the sled is level.
Imho this is all for appearance, making the sled higher so it appears to have more travel than it actually does. This is more than likely an effort to make it look comparable to other manufacturers offerings. Then we give it a fancy name..... Advanced roll center. More like higher COG. Looks cooler tho.
There’s a reason the Cross Country teams use the old setup, just sayin.

I did some testing with the transfer last year on my 2020 when I got the sled and with the rear in the lower holes the skis where 3” off the ground with blocks engaged on #1 and front skid shock extended ,all of the track on the ground. Lifted with my fork lift from the front bumper. If you where to put it in the upper Holes you’d definitely transfer more

A higher front roll center is essentially what they have done. Makes your sled more responsive to steering input with a sacrifice of more pushing under hard steering...... yes hitting a bump while turning it probably won’t feel as “Grabby” pushing through the bump more instead of the sled jumping to one side or the other. Probably a good change since most of us are “Over 50”
Technically a proper setup would be to maintain the 2019 sled height to the 2020 new front end. This would change the angle of the front arms to raise the roll center. If you turn the springs up and raise the front end, then your right back at the same roll center you were with the 2019 sleds. All this achieves is a higher COG. M2C

I believe you're absolutely right with your theory ClutchMaster. I am going to set mine up the same way the 2020 T Cat is. I have excess to a 2020 Winder i can use this winter to compare the difference. Like you said there is a reason why the race team went back to the 2019 set up. This really sucks I passed up a lot of good deals on 2018 & 2019's so I could buy a 2020. Well what ever I like the color if worst comes to worst and I can't get it to my liking I'll have to switch it over to the 2019 and previous suspension.
