Rear Seat Torcs screw Solution....

I have found a new solution over the other one I posted above. These say Yamaha a little more then the other one.

It's hard to tell from the pic, but they are the Royal Blue Yamaha color. They seem to be of a good quality. You just need to add a rubber washer so they don't loosen up. They can be a little harder to unscrew if you crank them down wicked tight. The only bad news is you have to get them shipped on the slow boat from China. I bought mine here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161806956676 There are other listings, but I found this to be the cheapest. Also want to note the white looking parts are bare aluminum, not white paint like it might look in that pic (remove the nut & washer to use them lol). I have not ridden with them yet, but I see no issues.

You'll only have to lose the seat once and it will pay for a lot.of screws

I guess I can be cheap sometimes but, did not like to have to use a tool to take the seat off. Most likely you don't even need to screw the seat down but, my luck I would lose it. So I went to the hardware store (menards) and bought a wing screw and spacer nut. Lock tight them toghter and away you go! Under $5. At 100mph no one sees it!

Here is a pic of mine installed. Also you can see I took some chrome plastic car door edge trim and stuck it on the bracket to keep it from making a hole in my bag.

I have EVO on red viper and none on my blue viper. If you can pull the seat off by hand you are stronger than me. Unless you were talking about theft.

I find having to use a star bit to remove a screw before I can remove my seat to be a big pain and poor design.

Anyone come up with a quick "pin type" solution that would make it easy to access.

Share your ideas please.

Slow boat from China is right! LOL! Ordered a month ago and they just hit Chicago. Should have Monday to try them out.

I think you will like them. Make sure you go to the hardware store and grab a flat rubber washer to stick on there to make sure it stays tight. Also red loctite the threaded rod into the aluminum thumb screw. It's weird w/china. Sometimes I get things in 2 weeks sometimes it takes a month.

I put on the racewerx screw last year, went on fine but about a month later I went to take it out and the threads gulled. I had to remove it with pliers. So I chased out the seat mount threads with a tap cut off the threaded portion of the screw and drilled and tapped it to except a long set screw which I glued in with red Lock tight. Never had a problem since. I think a aluminum screw is just a bad idea, the metal is just too soft.
Exactly the same outcome here. Wasted my money, and completely agree that screws should never be made of aluminum. Now I have to figure out how to get the broken piece out.

What's wrong with the stock screw?
how often are you guys taking your seat off

It's funny to me that this discussion has 9 pages. People are very passionate about that damned screw LOL.

The issue was that during assembly, some of these screws took a real set from impact tools and were nearly impossible to get off on the trail side with the included tool.

I had to use an ez out on mine the first time i took it off.

I had the fancy aluminum knob for a while, but now I don't have any because i didn't want it tearing up my tunnel bag. Have had no problems without the screw.
