Rear Seat Torcs screw Solution....

You poor guys need some snow!

Speaking of screws, I lost my clutch side panel thumb screw yesterday. I must have forgot to tighten it and it feel out in the woods some place :mad:

:letsnow::letsnow:

I am about to throw the side panel screw to the same place the seat screw went,is it even really needed,such a PITA

Ok. I found a nice solution for the seat screw. Not huge like the nobs and not tiny like a std thumb screw and a bit more sexy lol. I find things in the strangest ways. I was searching eBay for a 6m screw and came across: Secraft Aluminum and Steel Wing Bolts M6. These are for r/c air planes but are perfect for the seat screw on the viper. Note the blue is not an exact Yamaha blue. It is a bit lighter. Not so light that it's a sky blue or something but just a little lighter. They come in a pack of 2. You will need some red loctite to secure the threaded rod into the billet wing/thumb screw. A bit pricey at $10.45 + shipping, but so much nicer looking then most of the other options. Between the billet head and the seat latch there is also a nice rubber washer to hold tight against the seat bracket. If you are able, I would try to source some SS threaded rod to replace the std. steel these come with or maybe cut the threads off a m6 ss bolt and use that. I think I am just going to try it with some good anti-rust spray and see how it goes. Blue: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Secraft-Alu...Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cf08ef4c7 Red (looks like a funny red in the pic though): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Secraft-Alu...Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a9f42f7f0 The seller also has a set with aluminum threaded rod. If you buy that set I would change out the aluminum w/something else as some people had issues with racewerx aluminum screw.

I installed the Race Werx seat bolt so that I do not need any tools to remove the seat.

The Race Werx seat bolt looks nice but it will not stay tight. I was constantly having to check it and hand tighten it during rides. I was also worried about it rubbing a hole in rear storage bag. I went back to the original bolt. If anyone is considering buying the Race Werx seat bolt save your money.

I used a thumb screw from Evolution Power Sports (see posts on page #1 with link) and have never had any issue with it not staying tight. I believe the seat would stay in place without the screw as some have suggested but liked the idea of having a thumb screw just in case.

I just flipped the bolt. I found that the latch cant just come off because you have to pull it around the bolt it works great and it's off in a couple seconds. If you don't like it without a nut just add a wing nut and it could still be tool less.

I found a 1/4 -20 thumb screw at the local hardware store. The I borrowed an M6 die from my dealer and rethreaded it. It's a little crude but it does the job nicely.

Dirtbikekid method has been in use on the Yamaha/procross chassis since 2012. Works great, dosnt coat a dime. Nice closeup by the way.

Was was just doing a "demonstration" on how to properly put you sled on its side for the inspection. I noticed just a few minutes later that you did a inspection also which I happen to have on camera too. ;)!

I was just looking at the best spots to drill the little drain holes in he skid plate. Much easier to plan those out with the sled on its side in a field than it is lying on a dirty garage floor:)

A good hardware store will have metric thumb screws mine has a small black plastic knob. they do not loosen up have one on all three of my vipers. Aluminum you get the oxidation and the corrosion between steel and aluminum not to mention the ones I bought where like 2.50
