Rear Storage Bag

I am sure those flares wont work for me. My storage bag is always covered with snow unless its really warm out.

How far down do the flares go? Anyone have a side photo of them? Do they look like fender skirts on a Buick ?

This is the best pic I have. If you need a better one let me know and I can snap one. They are the black part under the blue bumper tube. Also if you have a Blue viper the blue flares do match. I did not buy the blue because I could not confirm if they matched. They don't look like it in the catalog. I had no wet issues last year.

How do the flares mount ? Do you have to drill for rivets??? bolts???..... Thanks

I was looking at them on the sled last week when I was adding blue led's and 'I think' I remember them having several torx head bolts that mount the length of the flare to the tunnel and a rivet mounting it to the running board in the hole pictured below:

I don't think the ones that hold it to the tunnel were rivets, but I'm not 100% sure. Either way Yes holes need to be made. I had my dealer do it as part of the setup when I bought the sled. It should be very straight forward though. Hold the flare there mark the holes with a marker, drill them and either bolt/rivet them on. Some AC models come with the flares installed factory. Also if you have a bag where the back straps hooked over the sides of the tunnel. You will need to do something else with those straps. If you look at my pic in my other post above you will see I just hooked them to the tail light bracket. I also put 2 little sections of white electrical tape on the tunnel where the hook hit it, as to keep the paint from wearing off.

I installed flares myself. I think the holes are already there. They did mount with rivets, but there are existing holes for the rivets. And, the kit included the rivets.
Thanks for your post

20160107_174220.jpg 20160107_173709.jpg This is the bag I run. Rode all last weekend and eveything stayed dry but noticed the latch was wearing into to bag big time. So here is what I did to help fix the issue. 1/4 inch with a zip tie. Well see how it works out!

Ok was a little warmer today so I went out to the trailer and took a look and I am puzzled at what I saw. 2 vipers, 1 has what look to be self tapping torx screws and not placed in pre-drilled holes. Looking in those holes I can see factory holes in the bumper. So YES the holes are there for the install (at least in the sled). Now on the 2nd viper they have been put on with what looks like SS phillips mmm self tapping? screws and the flares do not look to have any pre-drilled holes (unless they used them this time). The front of the flare that mounts to the running board is riveted on both sleds. Sorry for the bad pix the sun was in a bad spot.

I had same issue and put the flares on and it mostly took care of the problem except in certain conditions when a lot of snow was kicking up. They are super easy to put on but as I usually do I used a stronger rivet cause the rivets that come with some of this stuff are pretty weak.

Here's the Cat instructions.

I installed these on my 2014 XF7000ltd. They are now standard on the Cat limited models. I can't image the Yamaha's mounting any differently. Easy to install. Take your time. I used LocTite Blue on the screws. But I pretty much LocTite everything! Ha!

I was curious as to the conditions in which the bags are getting soaked. 4th wheel kit installed? Off trail/on trail? Because I can see the track flexing and grabbing a lot more snow and throwing it up. obviously snow dust is a culprit when the snow has low moisture. Just curious
