Just seen the local news in Detroit that said all 2009 Nytros are being recalled for the from A-arm bolt.... Anyone else hear they are ALL recalled???

The XTX model is not supposed to be part of the recall however when I read about the recall on these forums I checked the RH upper A-arm bolts on both of my 2009 XTXs and the bolt on one of them was loose. Around 500 miles on the sled.

Right upper A arm bolt to be tighten. Either do it your self or bring it into any dealer. 15min job...

look up daraneelo's? post on here he posted the vin numbers..
I thought it wasnt the torque spec but lack of locktite....mine wasnt very tight but required some effort to pull out only to verify it had locktight on it..

Ya, the '09 XTX is on the list, just talked to a buddy yesterday he had his in a the dealer to have it done..good thing cuz it was way loose. Make sure you check yours!!!!

What is torque spec boys?
Thanks!

Took mine in to the dealer. Had them do that and they also did the tunnel reinforcement that's covered under warranty for the XTX.

IFlyEm,

I have heard of the tunnel reinforcements but I didn't know they were covered under warranty? Can you elaborate?

Thanks

He's got a nice dealer, or things have changed with Yamaha since Sept.
The tunnel reinforcments were only warranty for the 2009 SE model.
At least my dealer gave me cost on the parts. (I think)
Cheers

The recall is about tightening the inner bolt of the upper a-arm. This picture is stolen from the 2008 workshop manual and back then the tightening torque was 45 Nm (the long bolt "C" in the upper left corner).

Please note that the a-arm as well as the bolt was changed for the 2009 SE. Because of this the torque spec might be different compared to the 2008 model. Anyone with the supplementary workshop manual for the 2009 SE...?

I got a recall letter for my XTX and it stated that the reason was because of a bur on the metal where the nut seated that would allow the nut to be torqued, but eventually would loosen.
