Some good news finally for the Redfield area of NY. This is a main gateway to Tug Hill:

Over 20 miles of snowmobile trails in the Town of Redfield will be open this season for community use.

The decision to open the trails came after Senator Patty Ritchie and Assemblyman Will Barclay sat down with local forestry companies and locals in the Town of Redfield.

The trails are a key entry point to the Tug Hill Region from Oswego County, popular with snowmobilers from all over the country because of the heavy amount of snow it receives.

Salmon River Timberlands owns 28 percent of the land area in the town of Redfield and as stewards of the land, “it felt an obligation to keep the needs of the community in mind.”

“We certainly understand the importance of keeping these important snowmobile trails open, not only for the Redfield Snowmobile Association and other riders, but the businesses throughout our region that depend on sledders coming to our area and spending money,” Salmon River Timberlands, LLC Director of Operations Matt Smith said.

This is really good news. A friend of mine has a place on Little John Drive where just down from the drop off spot. It’s a great place to get on the trails from there and if it stayed closed it would have sucked.
