I got my stock replacement spring for the stock secondary clutch on my 03 RX1. I was looking for any advice for changing it out. I have never had a Yamaha one apart before. Can I do this with man power holding it together while removing the bolts? Can I use a vice or threaded rod with large washers? I know the secondary is not near as bad as the primary on a skidoo but I just don't what to write another post when a bunch of parts go flying out and I feel like an idiot.

Thanks in advance

stock spring you can do itby hand. I havedoen mine several times. Maxdlx

You can do it while it's on the sled. Remove the 3 bolts holding the helix on, pull the helix off by pulling and twisting it clockwise to clear the bolt threads. When it comes off, there will be some counter clockwise tension, be ready for it. Note the spring holes' positions on both the helix and sliding sheave. Replace the spring in the same positions and mount the helix back on by twisting the helix clockwise until the bolt threads line up with helix holes. This is the difficult part of it becasue of the tension and be careful not to damage the slider buttons on the helix (are you replacing these?). Once you get the helix on, thread the nuts on with a 10mm wrench a little bit at a time, you want it to go on smoothly and not bind. Tighten bolts and reinstall belt and test for operation.

K so I did the deed tonight everything went well. I did not have the replacement shoes/buttons so I put it back together for my ride tomorrow. When I had it apart they where worn out a bit. The measurement in the book shows 1mm wear limit which is next to nothing. How can I tell if they should be replaced?

looks like the part is three of:

8AV-17688-10-00 SHOE, RAMP

When they wear down to 1mm, then you replace them.
Also, you can look at how they wear, if they all look the same, then you should be okay.

make shure you check the towers as well as i broke one on mine last ride. did not hear a think but it did fall out when my brothers tec class took off the secondary to replace my track. good thing i had a spare.

Does anyone know the stock setting for the secondary spring on the Warriors. The manual only states the settings for RX1 and not the warrior but I thinks it's 3 and 3. Can anyone verify?

Anyone ever replace the clutch buttons?

Yes I do believe it is 3n3.
