Has anybody used the roto pax gas cans and how did you mount them. I have a nytro xtx and was wondering about this instead of the trail tank.

Use the mount that it comes with and bolt it to the side of your tunnel as far back on the running board as you can. I tried the 5 gallon didn't work for me but I have a 121",needed a longer tunnel you shouldn't have any problems. Oh and use stainless steel nuts and bolts to prevent rusting.

Just like that ;)!

If you don't want a Trailtank like I didn't. Try the Tourbuddy. I love mine. They work great. It holds over 3 gallons and will save you a hundred bucks over the Trailtank.

I have seen some guys put a turnout on the exhaust. Change the tailight to an led, and relocate it to the end of the tunnel to free up space on the tunnel deck. Then mount the rotopax right to the deck. then, get a tunnel pack by skins that can fasten over top of the roto pax can for more storage. Very cool set up. It can hold gear, a shovel head, etc. check out their website.
If I had an xtx, that would be my set up.

Here is how I did mine. SDR under tunnel exhaust. Mounted the mounting hardware on the OFT blockoff plate with another backer under the plate for reinforcment.

I also used to have one in my saddlebags. Yes they fit in the big yamaha saddlebags.

On an XTX I think it would still be a tight fit, or not even fit, unless you move the tailight.

I did mock it up on the side of the tunnel, I believe you could mount one on each side but you would lose some runningboard room.

Nothing against the Tour Buddy but, it's a big honkin ugly chunk of plastic. It is nice though, as I recall it pulls fuel from the tour Buddy first, then the tank. Search it on Youtube, good video of it there.

No, you do not have to move the tail light and on an XTX I don't think it looks as bad as they say. It also will go dry of fuel before the main tank starts to go down . It made my fuel range go to about 160 miles. I will take a couple pics when I get home tomorrow.

Here is how I had mine. But it does not fit with the Hindle exhaust I have now as it comes out at a lower angle.

Maybe its just me but some of these tanks look way to close to the exhaust??

Yeah people told me it was going melt and catch fire. It didn't even get hot enough to melt the snow on it. It never even got warm.

My exhaust is SDR's under tunnel. Made sure I had the Rotopax mount far enough rear so it shouldn't get hot.

Thanks for all the info, I will have a under tunnel exhaust with the turbo and think this idea will work. It will also be fun stopping at scooby doo's that are out of gas along the trails!
