RS mechanical cam chain tension problem bulletin

    All the chain Tensioner have to be replace in the RS VECTOR/ER/GT; RS VENTURE/GT; RS RAGE/GT; RS NYTRO/ER; RS VECTOR MOUNTAIN/SE; AND VK PROFESSIONAL- MECHANICAL CAM CHAIN TENSIONER FAILURE

    Has anyone else on here heard anything about this?????

    My bad it was the MECHANICAL CAM CHAIN TENSIONER that was in question in the motor not the chain tension adjuster in the chain case...

    Just got back from my dealer and they said the same thing...Didn't know anything about it and with the mileage Hondo put on his I'm not too worried about it...

    Dealer checked mine today, said it was noisy. He called Yamaha it is covered under my YES , maid my day. Have 5150 miles on it. :yam:

    there was a bulletin saying there was a problem, but it did not talk about fixing it.

    the tensioner in question is the one on the camshaft that keeps the valves in time. When it goes the pistons hit the valves and the motor is junk. I had it happen on one of my Rages at 6ooomi. They never said they had a way of checking the tensioner to see if it was good.

    What does this problem sound like? My 08 Vector GT sounded terrible this weekend. Besides smelling gas right after it started you could hear what sounded like valve noise (ticking sound)?
