A few months ago I posted what I did with my RS Venture trunk bag HERE.

After a great riding season I'm reporting that design didn't work well for me. Once the bag was loaded it kept sagging & leaning over during turns. As a result I had to tighten the straps which eventually ripped at the seams.

This prompted me to come up with a design that I knew had to be a "do it right once & for all design".

So here it is. I removed the stock plastic base & utilized the Yamaha hinge to fit with my design. Being that it's a test piece I made it from 16 & 12 gauge metal I had laying around. I will be fabricating this with aluminum & utilizing a laser cut design some time in the summer. My neighbor is an upholster & he's making a custom bag to fit perfectly, I'll post pics when he's done. Fabrication time was approx. 1.5 hours, then I primed & painted it a flat black finish. I kept the triangular-ish type of design because I think it suits the RS Venture.

It truly fits perfectly & almost looks OEM. It's very sturdy & I cannot wait to see how the bag fits.

I'll post pics in 3 sections:

1 - Fabrication process
2 - Painted finish
3 - Installed fit

How much I want one?
I've already received interest from local riders.

As I said, this is a test piece & I'm looking at fabricating this bag rack from polished aluminum & utilizing a laser cut design. It'll be an unbolt/ bolt on type rack with the only tool required is a socket - clean & simple.

If interest in these bag racks continues I would gladly fabricate them in numbers for riders. Once I post the custom bag to suit I can also look into having my neighbor make them in numbers for riders who purchase the rack.

I would definitely be interested based on price but this would solve the torn straps issue with that luggage table design. Love how it comes off easy to remove seat but for storage it sucks. Keep us posted.

Looks good Petron. An idea for you - have you considered something a little larger? As you can (kind of) see from the attached pic, I went the ghetto route and just bolted on a plastic soda crate to my rear "shelf". It will hold a medium sized cooler, which I like, to take food/drink on the trail. It also provides convenient storage for a passenger helmet as shown in the pic, lol. I'm not sure how long the plastic will last before it cracks, but I really like the size of it while it lasts!

Edit - OK, in looking at the pics again, it appears your design is just as large, if not perhaps larger, than my little ghetto plastic basket. Again, your design looks great! Maybe consider a rectangular design to easily hold a cooler, pelican case, etc?
