I agree with the picky nature but ten thousand dollars is alot of cash and can sympathize with the concern. The big point here is poor workmanship by Yamaha !!! I personally wouldn't really care but the old riddle about a Polaris crank and a Skidoo engine is getting old, and blown out of proportion. I have loads of friends that ride both machines that have had ZERO, problems, I MEAN ZERO problems with 3000 PLUS miles and a couple who have had minor issue's were taken care of very well, which is something Yamaha has yet to show anyone.....quality customer service.
So get off the Doo engines and Poo cranks kick that is so old and pathetic, how many more sleds did each of those manufacturers sell over the past 5 years than Yamaha ? ALOT, did I say ALOT , especially Skidoo, so there will be more problems....naturally. I'm looking at this whole issue with an open mind and not brand biased. Atleast if you buy a sled from Polaris and or Skidoo they will bend over backwards to resolve your problems.

Mrance111 are your track clips showing quite a bit of corrosion too? Your picture looks as if maybe one of the clips are shown.

The clips aren't corroded, however they are worn from a trip to the UP of Mich early this winter. The snow conditions weren't real good and I ended up melting a set of hifax which wore the clips pretty good. I was riding on a freshly groomed trail and I stopped to see what kind of hole shot I could get. After I stopped I looked behind me and all I could see in the snow was the marks from the studs. The track wasn't even touching the snow. The snow wasn't deep enough to reach the track which left the hifax un-lubed The clips still have melted hifax at the edges.
