Just came back from a (backyard radar run). We were running 600ft on ice with about an inch or 2 of snow on top. Not Ideal conditions for trail studs but none the less.
My 03 RX-1;
From a rolling start.
1st run 99mph
2nd run 101
3rd run 100
Average speed 100mph
 So does that mean I would have run 130mph in 1000ft?.. J/K

Was the 100mph on the gun or dreameter. A 100mph on the gun in 600ft. would be considered excellent. A stocker would be lucky to do 80mph. How did it compare to other machines?

Rolling Start?

What does a rolling start have to do with radar? Didyou start before 600 feet? I don't get it. It is how fast your are going after 600 feet, not how quick you were. Sow what does a rolling start have to do with it? I agree 100 seems fast for 600 feet.

I did 96 mph on radar in 1000' on the gun from a dead stop. This is unstudded & into a 25 mph headwind!!!!

I had just under 70 (on GPS) in 500ft. This is on a warrior with 190 studs in 12" of powder, with only 50 miles on it. Not going all out holding the throttle, but I'm very pleased.

Into A Headwind

So Turk, why didn't you radar it coming back? Why no studs?

The radar was set up to only clock speeds going one way. We usually get a lot of snow so studs are usually a waste. Most guys run 1.25 tracks in my area.

Rolling start!

What I mean by a rolling start is that you would roll up to the starting line then pin the throttle once your skis hit the starting line. 100mph on the radar gun! Speedo read 109mph
An F7 was running an average of 102mph with mods.
MachZ with mods average speed was 99-100mph
Rev 800 with mods 99-101mph
Polaris 700-800's were running 94-96 not sure if they had any mods.
But then again I don't think anyone was running stock sleds.
Not to bad for a big heavy RX-1 with afew mods!
HH's
MBRP canister
Oversized Poly.Wheels
Oh yeah and Flames!..

what did you guys do to keep the front end down from lifting ???
i have read and hurd of guys flipping over with wind speeds of that kinda force .. but guys were running 1500 feet and could not see a dam thing cause the wind was blowing snow all over like a blizard.. i dont think you wpuld catch me doing radar like that it would have to be so dam flat and no snow in the air for me ... i kinda dont like that stuff , hurd too many storys

Best I ever done was 118 mph on my radar. Done alot of runs between 111-115 mph , but the best I got was 118. You guys running the warrior are going to find slower speeds running the 1.25 tracks, but you will be rewarded with great traction for takeoff.
Didn't take much to slow the speed down. I could'nt run these speeds if I was on a groomed trail or snowy lake. I had to be on a very hard packed road and a good long run. I also lost speed when I changed to a 1.25 track, but it was well worth the extra traction.
Don't under estimate the stock weights in the primary clutch. The flat profile is good for top end. A lowered skid, speed track and machined clutches will do wonders to this sled I'm sure!
