I am buying an 05 Warrior from a friend of a friend. It has an elecrical problem that he doesn't have time to fix. The price is right so I am going to take my chances. Anytway, when you turn the key on the gauges don't light up. You can start the sled though. It cranks over and as soon as the engine fires up the gauges come to life. Other than that everything seems fine. He had a problem before with overcharging. There is a new battery, CDI box, and voltage regulator in it. It is charging at 14 volts so that seems fine. Any ideas on what is cousing the gauge problem?

That's weird. I didn't know that. The guy I'm buying the sled from thought they were supposed to come on with the key too and he has had the sled since it was new. It has just over 1500 miles.

Nope when it starts thats when the rpm wraps right around then comes back down to where it should be and the lights come on at the same time.

Perfect. Then I guess it's not an issue. Thanks.

I like having problems like this. They are easy to fix. The guy I'm getting the sled from also has a newer Phazer. On that the sled the gauges come on when you turn the key on. He must have been thinking of that sled and thought something was wrong when the warrior gauges didn't come on.

fo future if you have an issue, look a the fuses they should be on top middle on the left hand side if you are looking at the sled. if not those guage clusters can be found used for under 100 bucks.

When the voltage regulator and CDI were bad the fuses there popped a few times. Since the regulator and CDI were replaced the fuses have been fine.

I seem to remember a trick some guys use to turn their lights on when the sled is off. Some sort of sequence of buttons. Maybe this trick applies to your sled and someone could shed some light on it?

Ive tried this trick on my 04 RX-1 it does not work! If i remember its key on kill switch up and hold down thumb warmer down for a #of secs then the lights come on. Something like that anyways i know it works on the newer vectors!yamahas said:I seem to remember a trick some guys use to turn their lights on when the sled is off. Some sort of sequence of buttons.
