It will start better if you rise the needles a clip or two, then change your main jet for your desired A\F

hard starting
Check cam timing! should be hard to start no matter what jets are in it.

carbs out of sync? could be.
I run 10:1 and 2 gaskets stacked for 9.13:1 compression, I have no problems with starting. Gotta be something carb related, have you checked your choke - if it opens the choke fully.
Is you sled hard to start when warm or cold (or both)

Try cleaning the jets and if you already did then do it again to see if they clogged again. My sled was getting hard to start without cracking the throttle a little so I cleaned mine and it made a difference for about one day and then it was hard to start again. I pulled the carbs and they were clogged again. I figured there was some gunk in the tank so I emptied it and cleaned it out. It was good for the rest of the season.
Here's a comparison photo of before and after:
Without monitoring your Air/Fuel ratio then you really don't know if you need larger jets or not. With a slight increase in compression and no changes to intake/exhaust, you should be able to compensate with a slight carb adjustment. If you feel you need more fuel, give the fuel screw 1/2 turn out extra on all the carbs. Stock setting on the fuel screw is 3/4 turn out from lightly seated for low altitude and 1-1/4 turns out for high altitude. Watch your spark plugs color to see if it's running too rich or lean and to see that all the cylinders are running consistent with each other.
