S/C boost relation to octane requirements?

Matt @ MPI told me 24/24 was fine on a stock motor for a 2011 & newer Apex on 91 octane at Sea Level ish which is what I have for elevation in N.B.
It should provide 7-8 psi of boost.
No head shim needed for that. [just barely]
Add some Race Gas or good Octane boost for the first trip out until you see what your guages are saying and you get the AFR's proper.
Better to be safe than sorry.
On the AFR's, tune your controller for fuel a little on the fat side just to be safe.
The Detonation sensor on your Apex should pull timing if you do not have enough Octane.

Sounds good Riceburner. That is the set up I'm going with. Should feel a big difference then stock. Lol

Well she is back from Ulmer, Went 7.5lbs of boost with a 136" track for this year. Added the Hygear front, and rear dual rate springs, and rebuilds to the sled also. Now all I need is snow to try her out. Really interested to see ho it performs compared to my past Nytro... I know the Apex squats better at take off, so should be interesting. Found a way to carry some extra fuel. So will be working on that next... Thanks for the help, and input to Kinger, and Ricebrunner

Awesome.
Let us know how you like it.
I'm thinking that is the ticket for trail riding.

Believe me, the detonation sensor would not help you

That's ugly.
Looks like you threw a rod.
What caused that?
My MCX 290 has been flawless in 6,500 km.

Unwanted detonation, caused by bad fuel, to little fuel, to much boost or to much ignition . Engine has runned 5200 km with turbo , 8000 km total

Have you taken your motor apart?
If it throws a rod it doesn't have to be caused by detonation.
A broken wrist pin will do the same thing.
Happened on both my RX-1 and my Apex last year
Wrist pin broke and took out the cylinder Block in both motors, no sign of detonation to be found.
The Wiseco wrist pins is Garbage, way too weak for a turboed engine.
Did your engine start ticking before it blew up?

Haven't taken the motor apart , i don't know if the wrist pin is broken. Have taken the head off

Didn't hear any unnormal before it blowed

Broken piston from what I can see from the Picture.
Is there any visible damage on the other cylinders or pistons?
Is there any damage to the cylinder head at that cylinder?
