I am considering buying a used Yamaha four stroke say in the '05,'06 area.Could someone school me on the differences between RX1,Vector,Rage,Nytro

In short:

RX1 is 145hp carbed 4 stroke
Warrior is RX1 but 136" track

Vector is 120hp carbed 3 cyl 4 stroke
Rage is vector but 136"
Nytro 06-07 is aggresive vector

Nytro 08+ is stand up 130 hp fuel injected aggressive sled similar to a ski doo rev but actually runs

2006+ you get the apex

Apex is 150hp fuel injected
06-07 Attack is apex but 136"
08+ apex lgt is same as attack just renamed

-03 RX1's some burned a little oil
-suspension in all of the stink from factory plan on some mods pending what model you go with budget $500 to make them nice and durable.
-apex seating position is revised and MUCH better if your 6' or taller
-Apex seat can be added to RX1/warrior
-If your going to run boost a apex is usually a easier choice to start with

The beauty of a 4 stroke is the engine, everything else will take some tweaking as desired. If you dont want to tweak they are fine, if your fussy and what it to be the best it can then you tweak as your budget allows.

You can keep changing, adding, modifying and the sled will always run, usually better then it did the time before, and you never have to worry about engine issues again.

Good luck

Nice summary Kinger! About athe only thing I could add was related to the stock Yamaha skids.

05' RX1/Warriors had the 1st year Mono which is a much better skid than the Pro-Action.

06' Vector/Rage first year for the Mono

G.B.

Schooled me to Kinger, thanks ;)!

Attak turned into the LTX not LGT and the 05 Warrior retained the Pro-action while the RX-1 shorty got the mono. 06 was the first year for the 136 mono. 05's also received new rings due to oil burning issues. 04 also got updates coils.

:jump: ;)!

Thx for the info
Have a 2003 Viper ER right now
Really like it but the suspension is definitely an issue
On the lake I leave everyone behind but if the trails get choppy I cant keep up
thinking the 136" mono would fit the bill so Im thinking Warrior mite be the way to go

Keep in mind the Warrior has the pro-action rear skid. The 136 mono came out 1 year after the 121 mono. Was never used in the Warrior. First used in the 06 Attak.
But I have to say; the 136 pro-action does work well. Much better than the 121 pro-action.

duster:

The 136" Mono is a great skid. make sure the shock spring is sufficiant for your weight (stock non GT Attaks and LTX's came with a spring for a 105 pound rider, lol! So you want to beef that up and prob revalve the shock at the same time. But after that the Mono skid is really good.

Here's an option for you: procure a Mono skid off classifieds here or EBay and install it on your Viper. Couple of guys on TY 2stroke side have done this and the Mono mates up really well with the Viper chasis, which you'll also have to extend you're tunnel to 136". Your Viper will then totally ROCK!

Did Gone BLue not say the '05 Warrior was first year for the mono

Sorry, yes I did. But I am now sure that Mighty was right that the Mono never made it into the Warrior just like the 05' 136" Rage had the Pro-Action as well. The 121" 05' RX1 for sure had the Mono but the 136" Warrior did not. There are a few on this site that added a 136" Mono to a Warrior which came out as a cool ride. Sorry for the confusion. G.B.
