I am looking to install some extra foam in my 08 seat and was curious how high/much should I add?
I have heard/read the newer Yamaha seats have been raised somewhat compared to the older seats, I just don't know how much?
Also, when choosing foam, should I choose high, med, or light density?
I also plan on using my stock 08 40th seat cover with no mods to it.
(I am 5'8" by the way and I am also thinking of adding a 2" riser or the stock Yamaha MTN riser?)
Thanks

I thought he declined, or had it done but didn't like it then removed it?
Something like that anyways?

When I had my flat top boss the 1-1/2 height was one thing, but the firmer foam was the ticket. Height is one thing, but if the foam isn't firm and comfortable the 1-1/2"-2" isn't enough IMO. Nothing worse then going through all the work of adding height and sinking into it like a stock Yamaha seat

- No, I'm pretty sure he got it done.

I added a 2" firm rise to my Nytro seat. You may be able to keep the same cover but it would be stretched pretty bad and might not last as long. I used a guy in Grand Rapids Mi. he used to be on here I believe. You order the foam and cover kit install it yourself, or take it to a shop in your area that does. I did it myself and it wasn't too bad, the trunk area would make it a bit more complex but still doable. I went with a grip-top and canvas sides all black, it was very nice, sell made, durable and much tougher than the vinyl/leather that came with the stocker. You may be best off, just looking for a Boss Mtn seat.

I had the soft GT seat like you and it was horrible, swapped back to the mtn seat with firm foam same height and VOILA perfect. Its the firmness of the foam vs the height. Try to find a ripped up apex mtn seat and buy it just for the foam. Then you cover will fit like stock and you will love it guarantee it. I'm 6'1" perfect my knees which I have dislocated twice now they no longer hurt on 300 mile days.

I went with the WRP Assault seat. It's about 3" higher then stock. However I'm sitting 5-6"+ higher due to the higher density foam. I have a 2" riser which was nice for the stock seat but is to low with the new seat. I also got a tall windshield. A bit windy up here.
I don't think the increase it hiegth is all that important, it's the higher density foam that makes the difference. I'm 5'8". I would think people closer to 6' and over would benifit from the taller seat plus higher density foam.
In short I would agree with Pier. get a mountain seat.
