Yea I hear ya, but if your setup was on the edge of failure it might just be the difference you need. My offset was over by 2mm with perfect Center to Center and temps were high IMO. Also uneven sheave discoloration. It’s not like the old days where you could be off a little, these sleds have huge torque that can pull the secondary open if offset is to high.Even 2mm to me aint gonna set the world on fire. I know guys that swear with 60-61mm and claim to not have belt issues.
Steveo is on his way to Maine, we know his riding style so it will be a true test.

We shall see is right! I'm with @ClutchMaster on this, ANY dogleg of the belt is going to create heat, and a lot of it. I moved mine in 2.5mm. My fingers are crossed! Most guys are having to move 2~3mm (.100”-125”) to get proper alignment. That’s significant with these high torque machines.
We shall see

I used the tool, removed some material from the hub and the offset fell at 58mm. Locked the secondary. I have since blown 2 belts in 150 miles. BUT i have also added Hurricane SM tune. My first clutch set up was slipping the primary and I was using a belt with @ 1500 miles on it. The second belt went @100 miles but the belt was 4 years old with untold miles on it that i had removed from my turbo Viper. The secondary was wrapped pretty tight although my clutches were running really cool. I was not using the helix i wanted( on order ) I also added @2mm of float
I checked it again and readjusted as my primary slid in @ 1mm
This all being said, I have a new belt and a clutch set up that i believe will work. I will test it when we get more snow
FWIW, my sled never blew a belt in the 2200 miles prior. 200 miles of it on a 225 tune.

I'm assuming you've made some significant clutch changes with the new tune?

In Maine now.
I used hurricane tool & i'm at 57.5mm.
I also put my "float"at about 1mm.
Plus i vented both sides of the sled front & back with enough air flow to run a Pratt & Whitney F135 Jet Engine.
As far as how i'm gonna ride?
I'm gonna treat this belt like a new girlfriend on the 3rd date.
I'll baby it, warm it up, talk sweet nothings to it, easy with the thumb, easy on the brakes, lure it in to a sense of calm & euphoria................then i'll stomp the bejesus out of her, pull on her hair, smack her #*$&@, call her a dirty............ooops sorry! That was last weekend!
It's icy so i actually have to be careful. Plus i have a few extra ponies under the hood.
P.S 1 The Pratt & Whitney F135 engine powers the new F35 Stealth Fighter.
P.S 2 This is obviously an OCD over-exaggeration so please no arguments about my venting being compared to a jet engine

Im hopeful but not expecting this to fix belt life completely.
For most of us, there is not enough snow in most areas to actually put miles on. We just lost 10" today on this stupid one day warm up . So we still have our base but gonna be awhile now waiting. Might just blow 2hrs north of here to Qc and ride if this keeps up much longer.
I have come down from 62mm to 57mm.....since my last blown belt, so maybe that is significant enough? I would love to come on here claiming its fixed...but with 270hp and riding hard corner to corner, I have a feeling belt life will never be much higher then 500-800 miles or so.

Haha this cracked me up.... I am from Maine too, let me know how the riding was. I think I am headed up to Jackman on Sunday.

The solution on my 270+ sled was to go with a stepper helix and more spring. After that it hasnt blow a belt. Before i had maybe 300miles per belt maximum and now i have over 1000miles on same belt with much corner to corner and even lose snow.

Remember: stevewithOCD had a 900 mile belt blower. He needs a 1000 mile NON-belt blower so he can change his belt at...........1000 miles.
I have a TD Powertrail tune this year which could make matters worse.
I could baby this belt to make my adjustments look like they worked, but that's not how i roll.
Unfortunately i forgot my Fluke Temp Gun so the good 'ol fashioned hand method will have to do.
I also won't get over 1000 miles until second ride of season about the 12th or so. I hope to get my RPM's correct today for best results.
IF i get 1000 miles or more, i'll try the Carbon belt next & possibly the XS after that with temp #'s for each. I believe a "belt blower" will blow any belt.
IF i don't, then i have rear spring tension & the 39/35 helix to play with.
I have 3 spare belts on the sled plus a MRE.
P.S. The MRE has nothing to do with blowing belts other then if i'm eating the MRE i blew ALL 4 belts and am stuck in the Allagash
Pray for a MRE free weekend!

Yohan,
Are you still running that TP roller secondary? Have you switched over to the Sidewinder clutch? I know you were talking about trying the Winder secondary on your viper.
Steveo,
May smooth trails and tall tales of cool belt temps be in your future! Good luck today!
Good “old fashioned” hand method...... ok I get it now! LOL
