Second ride report

Front suspension and steering are all done except for alignment. I had to grind a little metal off the end of the a-arms so the spindles wouldn't hit when steering at full droop. I also cut the ski bushings in half to center the skis. When you buy C&A's, they have you cut the stock bushing sleeve and it offsets the ski which to me was kind of weird all winter.

Finally got the sled on the ground. Suspension is in, track is on, chaincase is put together. I should be all done tomorrow. Just have to fit the plastics and tie up some loose ends.

Hey Caleb, How much of an improvement are the C&A's over the stockers? I ran the XT's on one of my IQ's...any con's to running them on the MTX?

I forgot to heat shield the trail tank so I had to pull it back off. I just reused the insulation from the stock tank and sealed the cracks with heat tape. I used contact cement to attach the insulation.

Took me a while to figure out how to route the reservoirs cleanly and be able to adjust them with just the hood off. I think it turned out good though, I only had to do minor trimming to the plastic in order to fit the hose.

And I will have to swap out the 4" Powermadd riser for a 2" as the wildchild relo. kit added to much height for the 4" to be comfortable.

Hey Nikolai, have you ridden a sled with Gen2 Simmons?

If so, could you compare them with the C&As?

What happened to the green/white/gray theme you were going with? Sled looks badass.

It'll be interesting to see if you notice a big loss in floatation between the 153, 144x16 and the 144x15. I'd like to drop mine down to a 144" to better suit my riding.

No cons. I like them a lot better than the stockers. I've ran XT's on every sled I've owned.

How was the steering effort on hard pack compared to the stockers? Im thinking of buying some C&A xtx I already have adx and there just not wide enough.

The XT's don't steer real heavy, but you can always adjust the skid for lighter ski pressure. I have not used Gen II Simmons but have used Simmons and just like the C&A's the best. I want a ski that is bullet proof and has complete control over the sled, the XT seems to fit the criteria in every way. SlyDogs are by far the worst skis I've ever had.

I got my 2" riser today and installed. I'm stoked to ride the sled, the positioning feels perfect now, even better than last year. I also got my skid plate put on.

I'm running a 150x15x2.5 this year. I personally just don't like how the 16" wide tracks handle.

Now that you are almost done with yours...lets get going on mine haha...Sled looks sick! All and all if you don't mind me asking, how much...ballpark did you spend to make the changes you have made? North or South this weekend? Lost Lake opened Monday.

Placer was closed when I went by today- it was raining there and snow in the Pass. :yam:
