Hey guys, I am now back to bone stock clutching on my 2003 RX1 shorty (Yamaha weights and Pink sec. spring). I have a 1.25" track the best I saw is 10,000 RPM. I am thinking that it may have to do with the 1.25" track slowing things down under there. I am currently running the secondary at the stock 60 degree setting.
QUESTION :?:
What would changing the secondary twist angle to 70 degrees (or even 80) do for me? How does this affect overall performance and will it allow me to increase my RPM's and by how much??
TIA,
RXWonder

It will increase rpm some but will put more squeeze on the belt and can even lose top end because it will slow the up shift.
What you need is a set of Heavy Hitter clutch weights, you can do all your tuning with them and not lose anything just all gains.

Thanks for the info Ted...I just sold my HH's to Silver. I have gone back to stock because I am not going to be doing anywhere near the riding I want to this year  . I am probably selling my sled at the end of the season. Family commitments along with my job keeps me way to busy and it's just getting harder to get out riding.
Back to cthe question...All in all I like the stock clutching. I already had the HH's turning 10,200-10,300 and YES you could really feel it off the line all the way up to mid range! We do alot of high speed touring type riding so I have no real need for that bottom-mid end grunt. I am more of a 1/2 - 3/4 throttle guy and I find the stock clutching pretty good in that area. I was hoping to "squeak" a bit more out of the stock set-up...Thanks alot.

Keep in mind that more rpm mean less gas mileage.
You can get more throttle response, but for the type of riding you do I would leave it alone.
One idea I never had a chance to try was to take about 2 grams off the tip of the stock weights, I think this will be a better way to go for you.

What about changing to the yami weights that came in the 04? You changed the track, maybe those weights would work better? They are different arn't they?

They are exactly the same, they changed the rollers to 15.6 mm and changed the rear spring to white instead of pink.
