I currently have a 2008 RS Vector that I just purchased new back in January. Not realizing the net length of my enclosed trailer, I am approximatley 2 inches short on getting my sled into the 10 ft enclosed trailer. Does anyone have know where or what type of shorter replacement skis I can get that will fit my RS Vector so I fit it in my trailer? The current total length is 42 inches, with it being 24 inches from the tip to the center where the ski is attached to the sled.

Something isn't right. The length of the RS Vector is 108.5 inches and an Attak is 118.1 inches. Most people are able to get an Attak in a 10-foot trailer saying it was tight, but it fits. So why would your sled, that is 10 inches shorter, not fit in your trailer?

It is a 2008 Yamaha RS Vector LTX GT. I have confirmed it is 118.5 inches long (online as well as my owners manual). My first problem was when I picked it up from the dealership, and the salesperson says to me, "we couldn't get it in the trailer straight, so we had to position it on an angle". Thus, I couldn't tie it down properly, and at that point, it was realized, I couldn't get a 2nd sled next to it Thus, my dilemna.

Two things come to mind other then shorter skis. Mod the trailer front two inches for the ski tips or make angled ramps for the skis to run up like ramps for changing oil on a car.

The ramps only need to be high enough in front to move the sled two inches forward. They also need to be the full length of the ski so the ski stays straight for long term storage. Simple project made from wood and bolted to the deck.

May have to use ratchet straps to tie the front down after because the stock clamp system may not be long enough. I would use eye bolts along with carriage bolts to secure the ramp to the deck and a plate under the deck to stop pull through. Straps could then be attatched to the eye bolts if no other option for straps is available.

Anyway just an option to look at.

I had this same problem with an old sled of mine. I would take the rear bumper off which gave me 2.5 inches of extra clearance. I also made sure to tie it down tight so it would not move inside the trailer and dent the thin aluminum top.

I believe on your model it is one bolt on each side that holds the rear bumper in. The bolts are inside the tunnel and could easily be taken off by a ratchet.

I take it that you have an enclosed trailer? We have a 10ft triton enclosed trailer, our ltx gt will fit inside the trailer but we can not use the front part of the enclosed trailer due to the ski's hang over it, thus using reverse to get off the trailer. It will fit.
