should there be a new model?

All OEMS need to bring out a cheap, decent, 80-100hp sled. Snowmobiling is getting too expensive and the seasons are too short. ATVs are becoming a great alternative to sledding due to year round use, plus the units are more attractive pricewise. I just bought a 2010 500cc ATV for only $6000 Cdn. That's half the price of what I bought my 09 Nytro for.

Yup watch skidoo sell 600ACE like a bunch of them and it is 60hp if it was 80hp they'd sell even more.

why? 4strk Bigger tank ,softer seat ,less radical look and wind protection at a good price.

I love Yammie but if the ACE is reliable this year I will probably be buying 2 next year for my wife and kid. My dad is interested as well. That is 3 sleds right their that won't be Yammie because they make nothing that fits this demographic.

the vector and Apex are great for everyone that wants premium 11k+ big trail sleds. The Phazer is great for fun bomb around sled but where is the Festivus for the restofus

Sorry Morrisond, but that request for the 1049cc would not be applicable for the Apex engine(not enough room between cyl walls) to bore it out to that size, would have to redsign motor in turn probably adding weight.1025-1027 cc is the limit for this block design.

That is not exactly true. You can stroke them out to 1100 cc's in the crank without changing bore size.

Too much time and money for the factory and stroking it you would run into some reliability issues. It would be better to go with the Nytro motor more meat between the cylinder walls and bore it out.Just my .02 ;)! Although I would really miss the 4cyl.

I think mx1500 has the right idea with his picture but with a sled engine not a wimpy ATV engine and more protection.
OR
Doo can make a "Bike" that looks like a sled why can't Yamaha make a bike that is also a sled. I have seen a company that has built a 4 wheeler that is also a water craft.

Hey how about You buy one motor that can be put into two or more chassises, take your sled and your watercraft chassis into the dealer and they send you home with a sled chassis and a fully working watercraft/bike/ect.

Heres what I'm thinking "want to go on a trip from upper Canada/Mich/NY/Vt/ect to Florida no problem take the sled motor and put it in the "bike" and ride down and when you get there take the "bike" motor out a put in in the watercraft/boat then have a great vacation and then reverse it and head back Home.... This way you get people to own the entire Yamaha line....

My reasoning is that how many people are going to be able to spend 10 grand + on one item that will be sitting in a garage for months at a time waiting for it's proper season.

THAT is an interesting idea. but it woud need to be cheap and quick to change the motor and engineering that would be a nightmare.

Yeah it takes me about z hrs to pull an rx motor and 7 back in

And your ATV is half the cc of your Nytro, you need to compare the price of a 1000cc ATV to your Nytro,2010 Arctic Cat 1000 h2 msrp $11,299 U.S/ 2010 Nytro RTX msrp $12,099 U.S so it's not any cheaper just more versatile to own a ATV. ;)!

I think the answer would be a multi use chasis. I am building one of my rx-1's to be a street legal reverse trike that will take about 4 hours to convert back to snow. I also hope to get a set of nob tires to take it off road but traction would be limited due to 1 drive wheel and low ground clearance. I am more concerned for high preformance handling on the street than mudding off road.

I luv my 07 Attak but a lot less weight would be nice. I thought that was coming with new 2011 Apex but when snowe clears I think we will have more weight or about the same but 128 track shorter than 136. Yammy has THE ENGINES & the line up is pretty darn good but very expensive.

Some thing will have to give..... with Yammy production numbers small prices high. Sometimes I'm just glad they are still making snowmobiles since we are low margin biz.

I really like Yamaha 4s outboards as well & will be buying one of those soon. Not good when looking at new boats & they try to force a merc 2 smoker down your throat due to corp intercompany BS. :yam:
