I just received this info from Yamaha on the gearing of the SideWinder Models.
Track Lengths: 129 – 137 = 9T Drivers x 2.86 Pitch & 21/41 Gearing
Track Lengths: 141 x 1.6 & 153 X 1.75= 8T Drivers x 3.00 Pitch & 21/41 Gearing
Track Lengths: 141 X 2.25 & 153 x 2.25= 8T Drivers x 3.00 Pitch & 24/50 Gearing
Track Lengths: 162 X 3.00 = 7T Drivers x 3.00 Pitch & 21/49 Gearing

These are not going to change for this model year. From what I was told the other info that was out there was a mistake on some models but correct on a others..

Awesome! That should help alot.

A yamaha demo rep also told me this when I asked at the dealer. Is there any concern this will be able to handle the extra hp of the sidewinder? Seems to me there's somewhat of a difference in hp/power between a viper and sidewinder. Would assume the SW would be harder on belts. The Sidewinder models will use the 8JP belt - same belt as Viper

Not a sidewinder but I ran the 8JP belt on my turbo viper all last season with zero issues - I see no reason to panic over the belt choice at this point as it has passed yamaha testing for this application.

At 1 to 1 shift out at 8750 rpm the 21/41 calculates out to about 102 mph

That was the gearing (21/41) and driver size (8T) in my Viper XTX w/MPI Trail Turbo this past season and seeing 100-105 on varying snow conditions was common - possibly a little more on ice/pure hardpack but I ride mostly trail/offtrail and didn't search out those conditions to try.
Is that the 141 1.6 cobra or did it have more lug than that? That was the gearing (21/41) and driver size (8T) in my Viper XTX w/MPI Trail Turbo this past season and seeing 100-105 on varying snow conditions was common - possibly a little more on ice/pure hardpack but I ride mostly trail/offtrail and didn't search out those conditions to try.
