I would be tickled to get 15-16 MPG. My stock SW usually gets 12-13 MPG. I've never seen better than 13.

I was lucky to get 11 US MPG with my Viper. Went on a ride a few weeks before I sold it with two 600 etec Doos. All filled and burped in my driveway. Filled up at the same place on the trail and burped. Cost was $14, $16, and $28 with the later being the bill for mine. I don't buy any toys for fuel mileage otherwise I would buy a nice bicycle. If I get more range when my Winder arrives in the fall, that is an unexpected bonus! Hoping I will have enough room to mount my Linq fuel can on the tunnel of the Winder with the new bag.

I know a lot of you say you don't ride a sled for mpg. But wouldn't it be nice to be in the same ball park as the yellow guys? I just find it a joke that they get damn near if not twice the mpg that we get. On some nice hard smooth running in upper VT this year we pulled in for gas and I got the best I ever had seen mpg wise, I believe it was around 13 or slightly better. I asked the two 600 etecs I ride with what they got and it was like 21 and 24! Yes I know those are 120hp sleds, but when talking with several 850 etec owners they are claiming 20mpg with those big bores. So i really hope drive line efficiency and or less overall drag is on the docket for the next gen turbo to bump up MPG.

I hear ya. My riding partner has a 900ace. He literally takes half the fuel I do at every stop.
I don't care to much about MPG from a cost standpoint. It's more about range. It would be really nice to be able to go 150 miles between pumps.

Don't know what type of riding you guys are talking here, but anytime I've rode with the latest crop of 8's, I used only slightly more. I was OK with that given I was packing a LOT more power, and I didn't have to continually dump in oil.I hear ya. My riding partner has a 900ace. He literally takes half the fuel I do at every stop.

Same here. The 20 mpg sleds just don't get it here. Even several vectors drop to 16. Maybe those big field blasts over a hundred by the big boy 4 strokes, and the tiny sled wannabees trying to make up lost ground? You said it perfect. To me it's not about the money but about the range, as well. And I have no desire to strap an sort of gas can on the tail of my sled. I wish these things had a 12-13 gallon tank then everything would be a non issue.

I have neighbours(both police officers) that ride a 13 Nytro and first year 850 Doo. Sleds are all stock. They are cruisers, not fast riders. He recently told me that more often than not the Nytro betters the 850 on gas. I had to ask him to repeat that because I thought I heard wrong.Same here. The 20 mpg sleds just don't get it here. All this past season my Attak has been better at the pumps then the 850s I ride with.
In their defence I have a PC5, Auto tune, and a Pod 300, as well as some other "upgrades" I don't speak about.

My experience, has been similar.Don't know what type of riding you guys are talking here, but anytime I've rode with the latest crop of 8's, I used only slightly more. I was OK with that given I was packing a LOT more power, and I didn't have to continually dump in oil.
A litre or 3 difference in fills .
I have never run out on my SW, and have never needed to use my linq can I carry ,for myself ever .
Others have run out when I haven't.
Then there is the burping issue that affects actual range, more than all other factors.
Treat them like a newborn ,and burp them multiple times .

I get 15 - 16 mpg at normal trail speeds between 35 to 65mph on TD max spool16 that's a lot more than double the HP of the 600's you are talking about. I ride with a 2019 Polaris 850 and he always takes more fuel than i do and you cant even compare the power.I know a lot of you say you don't ride a sled for mpg. They all have a sweet spot. My stock sw seems to be just below 6000 rpm. Seems to be because I don't like cruise control very much....I'm not out to sight see with high performance vehicles! But there certainly are times when I may have to stretch the fuel...lol!I have neighbours(both police officers) that ride a 13 Nytro and first year 850 Doo. Sleds are all stock. - '18 RTX 50th "Winder"
Some of our group....'18 850xrs, '19 600xrs, '18 50th RTX Winder 270r. ALL 129s with 1.25'' tracks.
Always running hard corner to corner, tight trails.
The 600 always uses the MOST fuel, he is WOT alot. Winder uses abit less fuel, and the 850 uses the LEAST fuel by approx 3 liters under my Winder. This is mile for mile, same days, ski to flap type riding hard. 850 out back will always use less, and the 600 up front always use more as he runs WOT anytime it opens up.
The etec 850 is really good on fuel, and it is even better on fuel then the 600 and 900t when all riding hard. The 600 could get better MPG if running more normal speeds. Winder does not seem to care how I ride her, she gets 14mpg most days which is impressive IMO for 270hp. A tune actually HELPS MPG. Stock Winders get lower MPG.
My Apex, Cat turbo, Doo 1200, and Winder all fall real close to the 14mpg area. Only sled I owned since '06 that did significantly better was my '14 800 etec @16mpg. All USG not imperial.
MPG goes up when running bigger northern Qc trails for sure.
