I did a search on this on both the Phazer and Phazer mountian forum. Has anyone ever used the Phazer mountian skis in place of the standard skis? I probably know the answer to this, but I have to ask. I am running the regular skis this season and upgrade during the summer, but my bergstrom's still look new (1000 mi.) and I hate to just pitch them. Most of our riding is on the UP trails, but I try to go off trail every chance I can.

Buddha, the mountain ski's work great off trail, on trail they are ok but not in the same league as sly dog, c&a, usi, but waaaaaaaay better than stock phazer skis. The mountain ski's are really wide like 7-8 inches. My uncle just sold his set a month ago, they had been collecting dust for at least a year.( I think he got 225 for them fyi)

I don't understand, are you referring to bergstrom carbides? If so, wouldn't the Yammi Mtn ski and regular ski have the same bolt pattern and you could still use the bergstrom's? I don't know, just curious, please explain.

BombaPolaYama-from what I can tell, the carbides will fit either Yamaha ski. I want to get better skis and I know that usi, sly-dogs, etc are better. In order to keep my bergstrom's, I would switch to the Phazer mountian ski. Hope that clarifies a little

Gottcha, I see what you mean - all the best with your ski selection. I couldn't be more pleased with my choice and the ease of steering on trail.

I took the yamaha mountian skis and took them to a machine shop and they milled the bottom of the ski (the keel to match the depth of the standard ski). They actually milled through the bottom of the ski in the front and back leaving a hole, but if you use woodys 6" duallys, it covers the hole and calm the front end down. I have found this to work well, I have about 4,000 miles on the mountain skis on my 07 phazer gt. 1 of 25 mods i have done to my sled, more to come in Januarary.

Why did you do shave the bottom of your mtn skis?

I shaved the bottom so it would feel more like the standard ski, but give me the floatation in the powder. It seemed like mountain ski made it more tippy or squirlly maybe it was all in my head but seemed to work. The taller keel in the ski I think made it too aggressive. I tried the standard 6" carbides first on the mtn ski, but the dooleys are the only way to go. Next YOU NEED TO PUT A 136" TRACK UNDER IT!!!!!!!!!

Saving me pennies for a 136". Would really like a free ride, but it seems they dont have them. Port had a good deal on the free ride 121" at the snow show. Should, coulda, woulda...

Here are a couple pictures of the mountian skis, sorry the image is not the best but when I milled the bottom it went through the bottom of the ski and left a 1 1/2 by 1/2 hole in the front and back but it is covered by the woodys duallys if you use them.
