I have been reading alot of posts regarding ski upgradesfor RS Venture models. I have a 07 RS Venture GT which has a noticeably wider ski. I do have some darting issues which I plan to correct with shimming and maybe try different carbides. I'm wondering if the stock skis on the GT model need to be replaced to improve handling?

Great reviews on the Curve ski , ,, I am changing my carbides from the 6" Doolys to either The Tripple points or the 6" duece bars ...I don't want to lose any flotation in the front so i am going to try the new carbides before I change skis.....So I guess it's in how much you want to spend ...Carbides $120 -$150 or new skis $400-$500 ...Good Luck with your choice and report the improvements..........

your skis are fine, shim them correctly and install arctic cat offset duallies, have the studs moved by someone who can weld. these carbides work great and dont have the bad effects of standard duallies.

I really am sold on the Curves. They are extremely predictable and accurate.
There are many routes to take:
* Runner/ Carbide upgrade.
* Specialized runner upgrade.
* Aftermarket ski and runner upgrade.
We all have certain levels of passion for snowmobiling. I have chosen what IMO is the best aftermarket investment one can make in the sport of snowmobiling.
Much has been written about Curves in previous threads. They are a complete system that has put more fun into riding. When I ride with Curves my confidence level and comfort zone is not being pushed to the limit outer edges of the envelope, because I'm able to ride in total control.
Hope this helps!

Slydogs skis have a proven track record of improving handling. Especially when used with Bergstrom triplepoint wearbars, skisavers and proper shimming.

I just got off the phone with Woody's.
I have had the same problem with either darting or poor handling.
The answer I got was to install the new Woody's Dooly Slim Jim (P/N SY6-6580 for my 05 RS Venture)
These have a deeper runner keel than that of previous models allowing for a deeper cut and better steering. Also keeps snow from loading up as it did under the shallower keel.
I will be getting Slydogs for my machine but I will not install them until next year as Woody's will be making a Slim Jim just for the Slydog/C&A Pro ski pattern. This way I can test the Slim Jims out this season and not have to drill holes in my Slydogs.
Hope this helps.
Hondo-Could you list the P/N for the steering bushings you replaced on your machine to eliminate steering slop mentioned in another post. You said that if they were greased upon installation, they would last a long time. Thanks

Glock30,
They are stock bushings from Yamaha. A little dab of grease doesn't hurt when installing the bushings!
