Was considering jb welding the front bolt that I have for my skid plate in place so I don't have to fight with it to get it off. I'm currently running with the stock skid plate yet but got ride of the plastic fastener last spring when the skid plate fell off.
The way I do it now is to sneak a quarter inch ratchet with a long and two short extensions as well as a universal joint on the end with a socket to hold it. Then just lightly tighten a nylock nut onto it from the outside with a couple of washers on it for support.
Just wondering what others have done.

I threw the stock one in a box and put the Mountaintech plate on my 2013.

That is the plan eventually. But for now the stock one has to do. I know it's a piece of junk but for now it keeps most of the snow out.
That was one concern was getting the correct bolt in there. It's either a M8 or a 5/16" bolt in there now. Can't remember off hand for sure. Haven't decided for sure yet if I'll get the shorty or long vs. Will need that front mount if I get the shorty.

Go with the long one. Every mark on mine is in the front.

My only concern with the long one was ice buildup. Had seen some pics of the first ones where the ice had built up and buckled it. My sled sits out more then I like so it doesn't get a chance to thaw out as often as it should.

I will have to check this year when we do our 4 day trip. That is the only time my sled sits outside after riding. Never noticed anything last year on our trip and I have the plastic skid over the aluminum skid. Only have it installed like that because the full plastic one came with the sled. If anything I should have popped off the plastic skid plate when the sled froze for the night. I can only think my skid plate drained the water out because I have a few holes in the plate from the milling process . I had holes drilled in specific places and used a bar bolted to the aluminum plate in order to mill out the spots for the plastic to fit. Then all that water should have sat on the plastic skid plate. Might poke a couple of holes in the plastic plate at the lowest point when the sled is sitting on the ground.
