I know this subject has been covered before! I was wondering which skis & which carbides you find best on the attak. The large majority of my riding will be on groomed trails but I would like the option on running well in a few feet of powder if I so choose.(Not an issue right now as I still have zero miles on my sled & no snow expected until New Years weekend. Hopefully we get hammered then. I tried dooly's in my RX-1 & found they plowed too much(fine on straight aways but often I am in twisty trails) so I switched to 6 in Stud-Boy Shaper bars which I really liked. I see that StudBoy has a doolie type idea out as well now. Just looking for ideas from those fortunate folks who have been able to actually use different options. I have read posts on SlyDog powderhounds but I believe they also make a ski which may be better suited for my purposes. Thanks.

The powderhounds are 7 inches wide and the trail are 6inches. I went with trails, bergstrom triples and ski savers.

I just put on powder hounds with 6 inch carbide, yet to use on the snow.... will have a post once i check em out.... cmon SNOW!!!!!

This subject has been quiet for a few weeks. Wondering if any more feedback since we started getting some snow in a few new areas. I'm a week away it looks like before I can get out. :letsnow:

I ran 300 miles on my Slydog Powderhounds with bergstrom 8" triples and ski-savers and i found the combo simply awesome compared to stock or anything i have really tried....

this is the only ski i tried on this sled but i have had simmons and c&a on past sleds....

I set the machine up per slydog reccomendation of heavy preload in back to have minimum set in of only 2 to 3 inches (stand on machine and act like you are bouncing through a trail and you only want 2 or 3 inches of set in). The front preload is set with the front springs just barely grazing the collars when the skis are off the floor and not touching......transfer set at 3/4 to the rear and everything else traction and suspension wise stock except for 168 studs...

worked excellent for my style. light steering effort (desperately needed), floated the heavy front of this machine (desperately needed), was able to power hard out of turns and control the drift while holding a line......

I would go as far as to say that with the stock skis and study boy duece bars i was sorely disappointed in the handling of the sled and seriously doubting my purchase of the attak.... The front end plowed and sank through the turns and it felt like i was driving a tank!!!!!the stock skis are really poor!!!!!

With the powderhounds it is like having a new machine that is ready to hang with all my rev buddies in the twisties and wail em' on the straights.... they love me... not! ;)!

I say powderhounds and bergstrom triples are a solid choice for this machine in my opinion and whatever you do dont forget to ebay the stock skis..... i got 147.50 for mine with 1079 miles on them and the guy was delighted!!!!

p.s. the extra width helps control the high center of gravity and helps in the turns...dont be scared of the size.....a wise man once said bigger is usually better......

Just to make sure I am understanding this right... You are running your rear spring very tight and the front springs about a loose as they can go?

I am new to the Attak and just looking for some different suspension set ups to try.

yes... but keep in mind i am 325lbs.... the trick is the sit in..... bounce all around on your machine while its in the garage and set your rear preload so you have about a 2-3 inch sag (from unloaded) when you finally plop down on the seat.(plop down like you just took a huge jump).... you have to have it stiff enough that you dont use all your travel before you hit the big bumps.... if it still bottoms (which mine did ) then you need more compression valving .. the machine is setup for average sized people.... i weigh much more and needed to work with it to make it work for me....with some hard treadmill work this year hopefully i will be taking a few more twists out of the preload for next season.... i had her on full last season when i was over 350lbs...

i can get away with the light setttings in the front because the powderhounds and bergstroms are very aggressive.... you would likely need more spring in front with the stock skis to keep it steering.....

my opinion is dump the stock skis....they are junk in my opinion..... ;)!
