Hello, any ideas why my machine drives fine, and goes into reverse fine, but has a very hard time coming back to forward. I put the lever in forward with no problem, but takes a long time for the transmission to engage, and before it does ebgine starts to back fire, and have to keep revving it and eventually will clunk in to forward. As for the backfiring not sure if that is because of being in reverse and trying to go to forward or another issue altogether. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Check the adjustment of the reverse linkage. The proper way to adjust is in the service manual, if you dont have that PM me as i had similar problems last year.

yes I am a noob, forgive me

Now, when you say the reverse linkage to you mean the Power train? I looked at the service manual and I didn't see anything called reverse linkage... Now, please forgive the ignorance, I don't know anything about this thing ;-( I plan on calling the dealership since this thing is still covered under warranty, do you think this woudl be covered? Any ideas about the backfiring?? Thanks again

If it goes with time, sounds like something might be gummed up / stuck. The linkage (that means the handle and levers) is a common culprit - might be some ice in something. Also could be an oil problem inside the case. Check the oil, make sure its up to line, make sure its CLEAN. Hose the linkage down with gas line antifreeze, then ATF.
