I have read many threads on snorkeling and I don't quite understand. I'm a new Yamaha rider and was wondering why and how high is the stock snorkeling? As mine seems like I could ride right up to the seat.

Any deeper then the top edge of the fender and the water will run into the clutch area....the snorkel will let you go even deeper ....http://www.grizzlyinfo.com/grizzlyinfo/ ... c.php?t=25

So...I can ride up to the fenders and feel confident that I won't have any water or mud intrusion to the vital areas?

You are correct, I have done it many times and if you think you might have went a little deep, there is a drain on the belt cover near the brake and a drain on the front snorkel on the left side of the machine ...similar to the air box drain.

Have not had any problems with the diff vents either.... but if you find yourself in the water wuite often it good to pull the cap and check to see if they are milky colored and time for changing.

The Main Black tube thats comes off the clutch cover on the front and rear......follow the tubes under the fenders and you will see what I am talking about...depending how deep you go...you will need to do something with the air intake on the airbox too.
