Snow Finally

At risk of jinxing it, could winter finally be arriving on Thursday for the UP? I see highs just above or at freezing across the forecast starting late Christmas Eve with chances of snow. Even if there is no snow, at least it will start freezing the waterways. Merry Christmas all!

Yup, heading to the Keeneewa peninsula right now, trail's are open , they good snow over the weekend.

Really!? Didn't realize they were getting any... I may have to make a trip over new years or the following weekend... Please report back and let us know how they are.

Neither did I , buddy called me this morning, said he called and the trail's were open.

Looking at heading up there next week ! We will see what this week brings....hopefully the lake effect with start kicking in again!!:letsnow:

Only problem with 7" is it will get wiped out fast and make for a crappy base all year if mixed up. We need a good snow fall followed by groomer to get a base going...

Well we dropped off in Houghton and went to Copper Harbour and back, little over a 100 mi, surprisingly the trail wasn't bad, seen worst last year in Munising with a lot more snow, there were a few wet spot's , little bumpy , did have to dodge some potatoes (rocks) but not bad for a first ride.

Hmmmm... May have to get up there in a week or so...
Rain for today, more snow for Friday and next week, definitely more snow on the northern end of trail, groomer went by, it was good to see the local's on the way back tossing rock's off the trail, had so much fun I forgot about any future mods to the sled, at 1100 mi she's just about fully broken in, did notice it pulling hard up to 85, not 70 like before.

Just came back(Tuesday) from MTU for a graduation and yes they had some snow but at best I would say all they had was 6-8".......and only in some spots. This was all but maybe in the northern half of the Keweenaw....

Here is a note posted on johndee.com in the forums regarding Twin Lakes, Calumet, Houghton areas of the UP.

Well, about an hour ago I talked to both Krupps and the Americinn in Calumet where we were going to stay, and they both said pretty much the same thing.

Due to the rain that's been coming down pretty much all day, the snow that's left is pretty much slush and the trails are pretty much done. This one warm day and rain has killed it. They expect some snow tomorrow and some on sat. but how much is the question and with all the damage the rain has done ( not to mention is supposed to keep raining well into the late night ) gonna have to really start all over again, so so much for our xmas trip

We really need things to freeze up good, and then get the snow going. I just hope it happens real soon............................

My cousin said they have 8/12 inches where they live north of Greenbush Mn.. FYI They did see the groomer out trails are limited though
