So it begins....apex xtx vs 800 e tech

I finally heard a new etech run yesterday and I couldn't believe how it sounded. It sounds just like my riding lawnmower with the briggs and stratton twin. It sounded nothing like a 2 stroke. Nothing against it, sound means nothing compared to performance but I was just astonished at how horible it sounded..

Zero dronage but i have it 3/4 throttle most of the time as we have so much soft snow.
I will find out when we start to get some grooming next week.

I rode this e-tech today & watched the tach. It was hitting 8000 rpm all day long with 100 miles on it so your buds e-tech had issues. sorry man; your story does not wash.
I ride with/against/on these 800 doo,s every single ride & know how they rev & perform. If your revving 7k rpm you got huge issues as they won,t do that even new out of the box.

Not my etec, just saying what i have been told.

My 800 etec runs to 8000, has yesterday and today and it has 101 miles on it now.

It does sound goofy when idling or going real slow. Doesn't sound like a normal 2 stroke til you really get into it. Also vibrates a lot more than I thought it would...I mostly feel it in my feet, but that might also be the 144 studs and arctic cat track with that goofy quiet drive technology stuff, and the Avid drivers. But even when idling, I wouldn't call it anywhere near smooth.

8 miles per gallon on my first tank of gas. And I used 1/2 tank of oil in 60 miles lol Thats probably why BRP gave everyone a $20 coupon on a case of oil.

I think they're talking 5 to 8 horsepower more after break in. Hopefully better fuel/oil economy. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if the vibrating slowed a little too.

they do have a hickup at 7000 rpms...during the breakin...you can make them push past it...I noticed this many times...I was told this is normal during the breakin period... turk is right...it feels light...er I mean cheap...

yam's build is still number one...Id be curious to see the two when it gets real twisty and moguls...

I'm glad to hear about this "hickup" I was kinda getting a little annoyed, but kept telling myself it was cause of the break in. Either that or it was gonna blow up lol
