- 2014 Yamaha Viper 137 MPI Turbo
Hi Folks - a newbie here.
Doing some maintenance in the warm weather, working through a list of things, and decided to wash the airfilter.
My machine is a 2014 SR Viper with the MPI Turbo Kit
To my dismay, the outer sock / cover was warn through in one spot, and at the same spot the foam filter was slightly torn. After some searching, I determined that the following are the replacement parts:
Filter - UNI Part# UP-6229SA... see Uni Webpage and table "CLAMP-ON “SNOW MOBILE POD” FILTER Angle 15° / Black / Coarse Foam / Urethane Flange. (NOT FOR DIRT USE):
**EDIT** See my next post
Sock - Outerwears Part# 20-1010
I didn't find this anywhere before I posted - apologies if this is a repeat.

The new one is deinitely much more open, and the structure is a cool spring whereas the old one was a tube made of perforated plate.
Also, the old one the foam element was ~6” long and on the new one it’s just over 5”.
Uni doesn’t sell a longer one if they style.
I might even use the old filter and just go with the new sock. The new one will work for sure, but even oiled I think it is too open for an engine that I hope will last another few hundred hours.

No reason to oil the filter(s), the open one will be fine as well. Just be sure to run the prefilter and you'll be fine.
