I ran the tuners for the first 2 seasons with different carbide set ups and they weren’t bad if the trails are hard and firm with 6” on inside and out. But as soon as the trails got soft or there’s loose or fresh snow they are to unpredictable. The Cat skis have been a great improvement and consistent for a reasonable price IMO.

I listen to rockerdan advice except I went both 7.5 ace shaper carbide in and out on 5.7 pilot skis you would think it would steer hard with that much but it doesn't especially fresh groomed trails. It does get a little more aggressive to steer on solid base trails but she rails and can easily put 100+ miles on a day and not be fatigued. The only thing I wish different with my setup is weight transfer and traction.

i tt the yamaha rep last yr in mattawa about my handling situations. he said yamaha found the best set up for the srx's with the lower front end was changing the skiis to the mtx ski. he said it'll take the push out of the corner and they only cost $80 each cdn. i haven't tried it yet because the hill drags were in mid april and the trails were closed. i'm gonna try them for $160 for the pair.

I just ordered them yesterday in blue with white handles. Yamaha just dropped price from $120.47 to $116.95 CDN for ski and white handles are $23.95 and have been for about a year. Lowest they've been since offered in blue on Yamaha Canada website was 107.95 and that was during the 2018 Toronto Sled show. Jaret (JMS) convinced me that was the way to go during that show. They were unavailable in blue then till January 2019 when the price went to $111.95. There were two more price increases to $120.47 until the drop to $116.95 last week. What rep quoted $80 CDN? In Mattawa had to be Jeff McGirr. That sounds more like dealer cost US funds.I tried getting them last year but they weren't available, where did you find them for $80 canadian? just added them up at $147US Funds each.

jeff, that's the guy. he said they were $80 cdn. i didn't price them out because the riding season ended. if you bought your sled at your local dealer they should give you a better deal than msrp.I just ordered them yesterday in blue with white handles. Other than Snowtrackers and the Yamaha factory carbide (don't know carbide length), the only carbides I could find were Woody's Ext 3's (4") and Blazer 6" and their Ace 6" and 8". I went with the 6" Ace from Royal. I spoke with Woody's VP Larry Tiede at Toronto Show and they don't make a Dooly or Slim Jim for the new Yamaha Mtn ski. Stud boy has a round bar but not Deuce or Shaper for the Mtn ski. Snow studs doesn't list a runner for it either. It appears the only choices are Woody's as above,Yamaha stock or Stud Boy round. How much is the carbide in canada?what do they recomend 6"

I did the same... works okay for meI would have to say that with all the negative on here about the tunner ski that I almost changed them out before trying them on my srx. I think most change them before trying them also. So I decide to try them knowing I only ride trails and know they would not be good in any depth of snow as they are a trail ski! I bought quality price 6 inch runners on all four and have to say they are awsome! Handles and carves a corner with light steering. Each their own I guess.

Did you have to machine the spacers or buy a different set to fit them on the apex?I have to agree, the tuners were good on an Apex but not on a Winder or Viper. i use pilot 6.9 and they work very good all conditions. tried the tuners on Wife new Viper thinking she is not running as hard into corners as me well after pulling her out of the trees twice the first weekend on the sled i changed hers for pilot's before she got hurt or wrecked the sled.

Did you get any seat time on the mountain skis, curious how the work on the trails?,any darting?Other than Snowtrackers and the Yamaha factory carbide (don't know carbide length), the only carbides I could find were Woody's Ext 3's (4") and Blazer 6" and their Ace 6" and 8".
