SRX powder day

The 900T may well get way better milage but 1 day in those conditions is hardly enough data to make many conclusions. It’s actually quite remarkable in the Winders favor in this case both for mileage and very much so for speed and planing on snow IMO.

I’m very interested in the 900T. I’m hoping one of my buddies buys one and Tunes it for comparison.

I don't think a turbo sled has to be a top dog sled. There are many benefits using a turbo even in a lower hp class. The old Cat 120 hp turbo sled they had was loved by many and some of my friends who had them still miss them.

When you own a sled like the Sidewinder everyone thinks you should be the fastest thing on snow and at times in certain conditions you may end up chasing tail lights. You have nothing to gain but everything to lose when you are top dog. That's why I said the little 900t has nothing to lose.
Respectfully, is it really 'little'?
We are talking about 98 cc's of difference.

I think the G4 is an amazing chassis & i also believe this 900T is going to be a HUGE winner, but the G4 has THE UGLIEST front end i've ever seen besides the 1971 Mercury or the 1998 Polaris Storm.

Sometimes we ride ugly things because they are great rides.......................oh those 80's flashbacks

Agree Steve....Ive been trying to even like the G4 for 3 seasons now....I just cant. Its very mechanical looking, and sorta reminds me of those transformers movies...lol, Its just not a picture sled! Doesn't look as bad on the snow in person, but for the internet id stick to the side profile pics, as the tunnel looks good, front end is just odd.

I think we all call it a little turbo cause I have spent some time at a few shows staring at the tiny turbine, it looks like its fake or a toy too be honest...LOL.

One thing I will give the g4, as ive rode buds a few times...the ergos are wide wide wide open for movement. When i jump back to my winder, I feel like my legs are stretched, wrapped around a redwood....Feels massively fat then. Also the seat on the narrow body G4(2s models) makes it feel like a dirt bike, I would install the 2s seat onto the 900t first thing, it just gives it a lean feel when riding. Jump back to the winder and seat is very old school wide.

I can easily see the next Gen cat/winder to have leaner seats for sure.....

What I can already see happening, is all the 900t guys will post vids racing their tuned 180-200ish doos, against stock winders/cats. And feeling good about that. We know the stock winders are dogs before break in, Mine was side by side to buds assault first few lake runs, 8200rpms and all.....But then after 500 miles revving 8800 he could not touch my stocker....900t will also break in too, but I dont see it being very close past 80 all things being equal.

One thing is for sure, the 900t will become the new flagship overnight IMO for BRP. No matter how hard they try to deny it, the tuners will make these sleds the real deal even if the iTC stock is poor. What I wonder is will BRP then bring out a big brother to go head to head with the winder? Will be like 1992/1993 all over again with the muscle sled wars. LOL

Well said.

I'm calling it little because of the HP and it does weight a lot less than the Winder. It really isn't in the same class of the Winder.

If you are looking for the top gun the Winder is the sled to own.

Another reason for calling it the little 900 is the size of the turbo. It's tiny compared to the Winders. I know size isn't everything so I'm told but when it comes to turbo's I think it's a big deal.

31 lbs less then mine is not alot lighter IMO....

SPECS Dry Weight
Winder 129/Fox Qs3r shocks: 575lbs
XRS Gade 900t 137/KYB Pro 36front/40rear shocks: 544lbs

LE winders have 5/8" shafts, quite heavy shocks.

Dan you and I have owned lots of sleds over the years and there is no way any Winder weighs under 600lbs dry. Maybe on the moon?

Put on 100 miles today in 1 to 2 feet of powder wih a 6" hard crust base. Ran with my buddy who took my new 900 ace turbo and we swapped back and forth trying each sled. Some fun comparisons:

SRX ran out of fuel at 76 miles and Doo ran out at 91 miles. Both sleds broke trail all day as we ran side by side on a woods road.

SRX is like a boat. Once it is up on plane it drives by the Doo. SRX in the powder is 5 to 8mph faster than the Doo.

In out tracks on the way back we managed 103mph on the SRX and 99mph on the Doo.

Of note is both sleds are bone stock and when we left the 900t had 0 miles on it and SRX had 101miles on the clock. Both are nice sleds but are distinctly different for sure!

More comparisons to come...
Nice pics! Cannot wait to get back on the saddle again!

IMO... skidoo never developed the 900t to compete with the sidewinder in stock form. They needed a replacement for the 120o, get under the 1000cc displacement, and stay in the 130-150 hp range with good fuel mileage for trail use. NOT POWDER RIDING.
Easiest thing to do was slap a turbo on there existing 900cc ace.
Curious to see in the future if they go after the winder but this round was to satisfy other things.

I don't think Doo or Poo will go after the Winder or Cat turbo. They are satisfied with what they are selling and are willing to let Yamacat have the hyper sled segment. That doesn't mean they won't be providing their loyal customers plenty of great performing sleds and industry leading technology. They just won't be competing in the big dog market. They both have done it in the past and apparently it has never been worthwhile.

Those top end runs in that deep powder isn’t a good test of top end speed comparisons imo.

You get that winder on a packed hard trail...and I believe there will be a lot more than 4 mph difference between the two sleds..advantage Winder!! And once broken in(over 1000 miles) it’ll be lights out and game over for the Doo in the speed department.

Two nice sleds though...but the Winder is just so much more handsome in every way.

If your taller than 6' 4" and you sit on that Minni Z (900t) your #*$&@ is hanging off the back of the seat so your not smashing your knees on the hood. Cockpit is too short.

998 gets far better MPG once tuned....One thing I noticed after my tune. I would be better then my buds assault by 6-8 bucks everytime we filled mile for mile.

900t is a small engine, iTC and smaller turbo....it surely will be a miser.

Dan
Dan what's the best mileage you got with the 240 tune say vs the 290 on groomed trails?
