This a oil line on the bottom of the oil tank. The rubber hose is touching the other oil line thats metal. It's not just resting on it. Because of the angle their is pressure and might be a issue with rubbing through. Can someone take a picture of the same spot and see of yours are the same?

This is how much engine oil is showing on the view wayyy low. ( this is after the recommended start up and idle before checking)

This a coolant hose on the bottom left side that goes to the heat exchanger. It is pressed hard on the frame. Not sure if this will have much movement but if it does I would imagine it will rub through.

Since I had to take the seat off I decided to attached the plug in for the battery tender. Their is a hole in the middle of the two holes for the seat that it neatly slips through for easy access to plug in or jump without having to remove the seat.

The factory bolt with the torx head sucks and it stripped when I was trying to take it off. Drilled it out and replaced it with a 10mm stainless bolt. I can see this being a PITA if you need your seat off on the trail or away from home especially if their is ice built up in it. I would recommend replacing this with a regular 10mm bolt when you can.

Never ceases to amaze me why the OEM's use these ... all bolts should be hex head!

X2...Had the same problem with mine!

I'm thinking the seat bolt is a problem. I did the exact same thing. I stripped out the head band had to use an easy out to remove the bolt. I replaced it with a new screw.

Friction between components

Good Catches Apexgt40. Appreciate it!

Had a coolant leak on an second year RX-1 and the cause was the coolant hose to heat exchanger rubbing against frame, which ended up in failure of the hose. Fix from Yamaha was wedging of a small rubber disk at friction point. No future problems occurred.

Another possible point is: during installation of cable ties on riser block, If not done correctly by dealer during set up brake line hose can make contact with bottom cap screws on riser block.

Thanks again to all that take the time to share these finds for the good of everyone.

Good info! We should all look over the sled really good. To find those little stupid things that could cause disaster in the long run.

Wow, if I didn,t know any better, I would of thought that sled was built be Arctic Cat. Looks like their kind of quality. LOL

LMAO Im sorry... but this made me laugh... ;)!

Serious question for you guys that have new vipers. With what you know now are you still glad you got one?

I have been thinking about this sled a lot, but the information seems to be mixed. I know no one has a lot of riding time yet, but I really would like one unless its going to be a big mistake.

I don't have any time on mine but I did ride a demo one. And going from my Nytro which I loved the Viper was a lot better. Even before the changes. Granted there are little problems, but only a few. Just think about how many they sold that don't have any problems. They ride a lot better way easier to steer. Lighter steering. Flat cornering and a better set up. I did a lot of work on my Nytro to make it faster and handle better and it payed off cause it was bad a$$ but the Viper is better. I will always wonder if I made the right choice right up until I drive the Viper and will not not have any worries that I made the right choice.

I dont have anytime on mine yet either. But from what ive read and what others have said this sled should be a blast. Never had any other of my yamahas break down so unless this thing gives me problems im sure ill like it.

I don't really see these as being a problem. As for the oil line, unless those lines are moving around a lot and there are sharp edges rubbing on them, I don't see that braided hose or the aluminum line rubbing through anytime in a sleds normal lifespan. Same for the coolant line, it doesn't move and it looks like they addressed a potential wear issue on the wire harness in there with a plastic piece over it. As for the torex screw, that's just modern vehicle manufacturing 101. Use fasteners that are a PITA to remove. Their excuse, its a theft deterrant, but in reality its probably just to make it harder to work on so we take it back to the dealer for everything. Still waiting for my spring ordered red LTX SE so I'll have to wait to see these in person.

Nothing Earth Shattering

It's going to be a great sled. It is just nice to cut these things off at the pass. Went through the same things with a recent purchase of a 14 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Everyone on the Jeep forum was in an uproar over some fit and finish issues and some electronics bugs and everything got worked out.

I agree... Things will work out. Plus when we got our Nytro's and Apex's we didn't look them over as good as we are now. So anything that looks suspect we are going to worry about them more than usual.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'm just about there now. I'll still have my trusty SXR if anything happens.
