Stock air box lid over filters?

Any chance of modifitying the stock air box by hacking it up to cover up the top of the filters and around the delta box chassis?

Only reason I ask is because the snow plugs my filters (I'll run pre-filters if I have to) and it seemed to get on my starter solenoid and switches under neath the filters and froze some things up late last year. I would like to keep the filters hidden and stock looking from the top but remove the bottom out of the stock silencer and have the filters sucking in air from the open space below the top of the lid. Didn't know if anybody has tried this. Of course I still have my nitrous bottle to hide...
