I have seen a lot of TY members build creative exhaust systems on here but I dont remember seeing one that used a Supertrapp muffler. Is anybody using one? I always liked the fact that with a Supertrapp muffler you can tune them for both performance and sound by adding or removing discs.
Looking for a summer sled project I am looking to see if I can make two of the 3" mufflers work with the stock RS tail pipe trim. I am pretty sure you could easily use a 4" single muffler and remove all of the tail pipe trim. I just think it would look cooler if you could get two mufflers to fit in the stock tail pipe locations and keep most of the trim with some modifications.

These mufflers are approx. 12" long with the end cap. The muffler bodies without the disks and end cap are about 9 1/2" long.
Hmmm, I dont know. I will have to look into this some more and see if it could work and how it would look. G.B.

ive used them on 4 stroke thumper enduro bikes not a good fit for sleds unless your going to extend the pipes out the rear of the tunnell not rugged enough for under tunnel use.

I was thinking these Supertrapps could be used like what Snoway did with the cherry bombs or what a Hauck Git R Dun system looks like. I think they would only stick out the rear tail pipe trim a couple inches more than the stock pipes. I also think I can modify the plastic tail pipe trim to fit these mufflers thru them. My sled is up North right now so I cant take any measurements to get a better idea if this is possible or worth the effort. Thanks, G.B.
Well the exhaust comes out the sides between the wafers so the ends would have to be clear of the covers and the end caps would have to go. I think the finish work to use they would ouweigh the benefit and they were quite loud on even my honda 175 I could not imagine they noise on 1000 cc spinning 11000 rpms

Yamadog, thanks for the info and you may be right on the feasibility of this idea. I wont be able to go much farther investigating this until I get my sled home from up North. Thanks again, G.B.
While thumbing through the Summit catalog looking for the mufflers I used on the Vector, I saw the SuperTrapps also.
Price was the breaking point on my pipe build project (read cheap) so the Trapps were over my limit.

There is a SuperTrapp muffler series in stainless with a single rear exit. Rings can be added and removed internally to give an exhaust tone appropriate to your age or IQ.

Why reinvent the wheel there are a lot of products out there or just gut the existing. I have done it all and all have issues over stock.
Here is an option

I have 2 buddies running them and they are not as obnoxious as the Hauck pipe and a little throatier than the Bender. They cost less because they use the stock pipe back to the can and the stock heat shield is retained.
I run Haucks on 2 of my sleds and contstantly have problems with the rivets and the resinator in the tunnel getting chewed up.
My buddy blew out the rear mono "W" arm on the rough trails 2 weeks ago up in the UP by the Hoop & Hollar. I left him run on mine (to get the trailer) it has a Hauck pipe on it with extra baffles in the outlets. I felt after runnining it for a year that it was not the noisy.
He left me along HWY 28 about 8 miles north of Sunday Lake in Wakefield. It was 11 pm and I could hear that sled the whole way untill it crossed the lake. I was liking it untill I realized everybody not sledding in the area was trying to sleep, the noise really carries.
I will be lookiing for a better option and the cherry bomb worries me because of heat. I know from my past experiences with gutted, Haucks and turbos the heat back there is incredible and I have melted seats.
Here is a pic of the inserts in the Hauck pipes when riding with a helmet the noise is about 50% but when the woods are quiet the squirells are disturbed.
