.64 for your boost levels. If your going 24 + is where you will really start to see any difference if you had the .86. Plus obviously the .64 will be a more user friendly TH for the mountains.

Thanks, thats what I thought, but I didn't know
at what point it would become inefficient

Hey,
I just saw that you live in Preston. I just moved to Pocatello and need some riding buddies. I would really like to ride Preston if I can tag a long some time. I plan on riding a lot of Tony's this year to because my Utah buddies will at least meet me there.

So How does the Garrett 28rs w/ the .86 exhaust housing compare? Is it good for more boost than the 28rs with the .64 housing? I know the .64 housing is supposed to spool faster but what is the advantage of the .86 housing?
I've been contemplating moving up to the 2871 but maybe my current turbo will be fine.

with the 28rs the larger turbine housing will help out on top end, but you will be limited to how much with the compressor wheel. Turbine housings and wheels are the major determanents on spool time. It might be worth trying with the 28rs because the lag you get will be more minimal compared to the 2871 because the 28rs still has a smaller turbine wheel. The 2871 large turbine wheel with the .86 housing is going to be lagy (comparitivly speaking) to the 28rs with a smaller turbine wheel and the .86 TH.

I'd like to have another riding buddy, we go alot during the week and
pretty much every other weekend.
I ride Tony Groove as well, but I like the riding from Preston alot better.
I'm going with the 2871 and the 64 housing, it came with the 86 housing.
Let me know when you want to come down, we ride alot.
