I visited Ted Jannetty's shop yesterday to talk about his performance mods for my RX-1. Although I bought a complete ECP kit a few years ago but never installed it, I am going to go with Ted's air box mod and carb changes. Ted has a way of modifying the airbox to make it less restrictive than the ECP filters. Ted's kit, air box mod and carb parts, is less expensive than the ECP kit ( I do not think the ECP kit is available any more) and does not produce excessive intake noise which can wear on you during long (300+ mile rides). Ted also offers a clutch kit to complement his air intale kit. Ted is a great guy to do business with - he is an expert in getting performance out of the RX-1, just look at his turbo sleds.

I have been running Teds kit for 2 years on my 05 RX1 and have been very happy with the results. This sled runs hard and has beat a lot of sleds that I would have never guessed it would compete with. I have only run two Apexs but run away from them. The last Apex I just told him to take off when he wanted and I drove by about 50mph.
Last year at the end of the year my sled started to over rev at about 10900-11000. I called Ted and thought my sled was just breaking in a little more at 2200 miles. He said my clutches just needed cleaning, to much resistance causeing rpms to rise and not upshifting fast and loading the motor. Well I cleaned my clutches tonight and rpms are were they should be. Ted knows his stuff. Teds kit was a plug and play. I did not have to adjust anything. You will be very happy with Teds stuff.
At the end of last year I decided I needed a little more power. I bought a used Holtzman kit froma member. Thought about it all summer and decided to leave it as it is. I have had so much fun over the last two years. I don't want to take a chance in hurting my motor, I can't afford to replace it right now. Teds kit won over NO2!

I just got back from Ted's shop. I had him modify the air box. He is a great guy, even though he had a lot planned to do today after closing his shop at noon, he waited for me to get there to modify my air box (delayed due to a snow storm). After looking at the way he modified the air box, it makes a lot more sense to me than the ECP kit. Ted's kit retains the engineering which went into the airbox to provide smooth flow into the carbs. The ECP kit without the so called veocity rings cannot provide nearly the smooth air flow into the carbs. Even with the "velocity rings", the intake runner is to short. I have the rest of the required parts and will be reassembling the sled. I trust Ted's kit and his expertise completely. I'm putting my ECP kit up for sale in the classifieds in case anyone is interested in it.

So how does Ted modify the stock air box?

Since Ted has inveted his time and money in developing a modification for the air box, I'll let him explain how he modifies it. Ted's running a business so I won't give away his intellectual property, would not be fair to him.

Yeah I would like to know how the box is modified as well. Love my filters be nice to get same gains with less noise. Although its a love hate sometimes the intake noise just gets me fired up, at the end of long days I just want it to shut up LOL

Call Ted at his shop, 203-753-RACE, to find out how he modifies the air box, I won't give away his hard work, not my place to do so. He'll modify your airbox and sell you the required carb parts at a fraction of the ECP kit (which is no longer available). Ted tested his airbox mod/carb kit on the ECP dyno and made 2 HP more than the ECP kit across the whole RPM range. Good power improvement without the intake noise.

I searched Ted's site but I dont see anything on sleds. Just auto's.
What is included in his kits and what is the cost? I have the ECP kit now. Love it when the snow conditions are good. But at -20, -30 and the snow is nothing but fine ice crystals my prefilters are frozen solid and it runs rich. Bogs at anything over half throttle.
I have the stock box just need more info on what all is done how well does it work in all conditions??? and pricing?

For the best info., please call Ted at his shop: 203-753-RACE. Ted is an expert with turbochargers and has built several turbocharged sleds for customers. He initially got into the sled mod business by developing improvements for the RX1 sleds He offers the air box mod with the right jets and springs and has a very simple yet very effective clutch kit. I had all of the parts so I had him modify my airbox, he charged me $35 for it. Call Ted, he is a great guy to talk to about sleds.
