last ride out I noticed my temp gauge started going haywire. Temps are normally 159-162, while riding it would go as low as 120 and jump as high as 170 but it would flash 10 degrees up or down in a matter of seconds and would just keep flashing random numbers. Haven't had anything done to it recently, no new ecu flash. Any clues what could be going wrong or what to look for?

I've had a similar problem, and posted it on here before in response to some other questions. Short story - check your temp sensor.
Long story - Happened on the Manitoba ride 2016. It was a lower snow type of day, but sled could maintain 180 deg F while riding. But all of a sudden, the sled would instantly loose all power for a second or two, then instantly come back. It would be fine for the next 10 mins or so, then do it again. So while paying more attention to the gauges, I noticed when I'd loose power, the temp gauge would show only about 100 deg F before everything went back to normal. So, I concluded that something was going on with the temp sensor. Somehow it would read a low temp and tell the ECU that the engine was cold and wouldn't let it rev over a certain rpm (lower than clutch engagement). That's what was giving me the loss of power sensation.
When I had a chance to get it back in my shop, I checked the temp sensor. It sat in the shop for a few days which is kept at a consistent 60 deg F. I measured the resistance on the temp sensor and compared it to the chart in the service manual. The temp sensor said it was only 30 deg F in the shop ... hence a bad reading. I got the temp sensor replaced under warranty and have had no problems since.

Good info, mine never went that low in temp and never lost power, I stopped a few times and checked heat exchanger and it always had some warmth there but never real hot so I knew it wasn't anything real major as the sled ran normal. Where is temp sensor located?

I will post results. Went out today for just a short 10 miles and temp gauge worked perfectly the whole time, so maybe the last time out was a fluke? Probably not but hard to tell now if that's the issue or not since it's not doing it all the time. New sensor should be in this week. Got a ride scheduled for tomorrow or Tuesday so will see if it acts up then and go from there.

The 2 times mine did it was during storms while there was a freezing mist. Have not had it happen any other time.

The time mine acted up, it ran fine the entire next day. It it left me with that feeling of not trusting it. So that's when I inspected the temp sensor the following week.
