Very nice remedy!
But just how loose was your chain???
To cause that much of a cut into the tensioner perch , that tensioner must have bouncing like a babies rattle..... So you have been monitoring this between chaincase services? You will get grooving on this perch, inherent due to design and dissimilar hardness of metals, but there was something else going on with the setup.....
Again GREAT workaround fix!
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers

No it's tack weld to tensioner, made by one of my sled buddy.... I have noticed first on my viper back in 2015Nice fix. Did you loc-tite it on? Did you turn that piece yourself?
Haven’t seen any with more than 10 oookm without this groove. I am not doing this for living it's a pasion , but i do see lots of sleds in my garage during winter .

-/+ 3 oookm later works flawless.
It’s the first time i see upper gear bushing almost worn equally. I am now 99% sure this chain is working crooked because of the tension wheel . I am surprised that there is no speed shop that have adress this problem. It’s definitely NOT an isolate case ....

Could this be a factor in uneven bushing wear? That post is just cast, maybe the casting is inconsistent enough to cause uneven chain pressure? Or trying to make the chain walk to one side? It’s the first time i see upper gear bushing almost worn equally
Good find.
something to consider next time I have a case apart.

I think so now! BUT.... What bothers me and put lots of interogations is the way the chaine ride, it’s the opposite side that should wornout first and its not the caseCould this be a factor in uneven bushing wear?
Sure soft casting...lolThat post is just cast, maybe the casting is inconsistent enough to cause uneven chain pressure?
Even bran new there is to much play in the tension wheel in my opinion, after xxxx miles tension wheel start to make itself a groove and it’s getting worst and worst. Another CAT thing

I don't think so, we use a aftermarket press in bushing and have yet to see any bushing wear. Issue is the shitty stock bushing

Agree about stock bushing ! I have the stronger bushings for a while.... Even whit better bushing ,i can see where it ride and wear the most. I dont think i have found the caramilk secret but surely a good upgrade for this questionable inginered chaincase !

Nice looking piece.
Someone should copy it from them like they do others products and price it right instead of way over priced like all their stuff.

Looks nice. Wonder how that shoe holds up over time vs the roller? They sell the shoe on there site to replace the roller but I don’t see this setup yet. My pivot post is getting a groove in it as well I was thinking of making a sleeve like the earlier post.

While they may have done this with my product there is no way I'm not going down that path. I've worked hard to earn the respect of customers and I'm not going to tarnish it. It's really a shame for PEFI that some people refer to them in this manner now. Sure they may have sold product by doing what they did, but at the end of the day respect is more valuable than money.
The way I see it, the only way that post sees wear is if the chain is loose. Loose chain allows that tensioner to pivot back and forth under acceleration and braking. Now if adjusting tension was easier and people could stay on top of it "on the fly" that could certainly eliminate this problem. I do have a pretty cool idea for this and hope to make it a reality this offseason.
