Dropped by the local Yamaha dealer on wednesday and had a pretty good chat with the sales manager. Answered all my questions about the XTX and was very helpful. When he asked if I tried a Nytro, he was shocked when I said no. So with that said he offer a RTX to me for a demo. So this monday I got a RTX for the day to go beat on.
I am so pumped for monday, you can't believe it. Still lots of snow here and a RTX for the day!! Things are looking good.
If she's as good as I hear, then this Cat guy will be wearing blue this year!!
Will post pixs of my grin on monday nite!

Test riding a RTX on monday
Hey RowdyRoddy,
What did the dealer tell you about the XTX? Are you thinking an RTX now becasue of the answers you recieved from the dealer or the demo is just so you have a chance to get on a NYTRO?

If it is an 08 you are demoing keep in mind the 09 handles subtantially better. If you read a lot of the test reports it is like night and day better with the all new front end geometry and revalved shocks!

As a former Arctic Cat guy, I can tell you will be making the switch. I made the switch from a F7 to the 08 Nytro and love it. The quailty on the Yamaha Nytro is incredible. I put on 2600 miles and not one issue that kept me from riding. Do yourself a favor, and make the switch. You'll be glad you did.

Demo is just to experience the power of the Nytro. I've done alot of reading here and on other sites and got a decent understanding of the issues of the 08s. So I'm going in sort of knowing what to expect.
RTX was all he had to offer. XTX is the model I'm looking at. Seems like the perfect sled for my style.
Just a side story, I went on a two day ride with a bunch of guys who ride Yamaha 4 strokers ( vectors, apexs and ventures). To make a long painful story short, the gas milage and oil consumption was enuff to turn me off from 2 strokes. Aint no fun being the only guy out of 8 having to gas up while the others sit around waiting for ya.
As for brand loyalty, thats not me. I'm more dealer loyal but more importantly I'm money loyal!! Be it sledding or atving, it got to be financially doable. Gas and oil savings is where my head is now.

You will love the motor and riding position, it is the best in the bizz and intoxicating when you squeeze the throttle

I read in a Yamaha blog that they maybe comming out with a XTX with a 1.75" track. Then this sled would be mine.

Wouldn't the bigger lug negate the advantages of the tipped up rails?

Yes it probably would negate the tipped up rails but alot of people who are more of 75% off trail riders and 25% on trail will most likely much rather have a 1.75 inch track straight from the factory rather than halving to spend the money to buy one and put it on themselves or paying a dealer to. I dont understand why they put the ripsaw on a crossover sled, everybody knows the ripsaw is very good on the trail but not so good offtrail. A paddle track or the cobra would of been a better choice I think.

You will certainly love the power I know I did. That is what got me thinking of switching. Then as you have done I did a lot of reading & getting info from the guys on this site & pulled the trigger. Have fun on your test ride & good luck with your decision!

Oh man what a ride today!! The power of the Nytro is unbelieveable!! Trail was real ruff but the Nytro just beat thru it!!
At first it felt little tippy but after a few miles I got use to how she would react. I had a grin from ear to ear today and I'm sure the few other riders could hear he screaming " Hell Yeah" when I hit a few jumps!!
Soon as I got back to the dealer I told him to order me a XTX!!

It sounds like you got the wow factor with the power as well. I still can't believe the power this sled has and am so looking forward to next year on my new XTX. Dropped the Doo for Team Blue!
